    Closer to Rome than Santiago

In 2023 I started using Buen Camino for the Via Tolosana, but found its route to be more out of date than other apps. However they may have received updates.

    Closer to Rome than Santiago

    Not used either.

    Arles Camino planning 2025

I have walked it and I was never without a place to stay.

    Arles Camino planning 2025

Sorry, there are 71 pages, too much for me to read. Can you summarise it in a few lines?

    Closer to Rome than Santiago

The web page gronze.com for accommodations was the most current list I could find. It links to gronze mapping app which has the route, so you can click from the map to the Auberge. I also used a mapping app called GPX Tracker which works offline, and uploaded a gpx file of the trail. It's good...

A question about flight connection in Madrid to Sevilla

I vote for the train. Changing flights in Madrid can be done in an hour, even if you have to retrieve bags - although I didn't have to this month, they went straight to my flight to London - but something may delay your incoming flight.

Via De La Plata in March 2025

Hi, I'm planning via de la Plata + Sanabres in March next year, but will likely start 2nd week March. We may see each other! Normally my pack is 7.5 kg not including food or water (or boots).

Alert Flooding between Accous and Somport - Path closed

I am a tourist this week and was at Lourdes yesterday. Yes, the flood water shown in this pic has been cleaned up.

Selling fully stamped credentials for €30

I can confirm this term is used in the UK to refer to silly, although not necessarily fictitious, news stories in the summer!

What would you tell a new pilgrim NOT to do ?

Not necessarily...my bag was unzipped and my purse was lifted expertly outside the Sacre Coeur some years ago. A fruitless morning was spent at the Police Station reporting the loss.

Young people on the Camino Primitivo

I finished the Primitivo 2 days ago and yes, there were lots of young people. For a while I was in a nice friendship group with a man of 61 and a young woman of 24. I'm 62 and female.

    Albergue Pozueta after Gernika, update

Hola @OldHands , thanks for your summary. I can't comment on the other two as I only stayed in one. I think one of the other two was closed when I passed. I'm not part of any promotional campaign and I didn't even look at the reviews on Gronze! (OP)

    Albergue Pozueta after Gernika, update

As I have read a negative comment about this albergue on this forum I'd like to report that when I stayed there on 16th June it was lovely. Good rooms and bathrooms, great dinner and breakfast. Recommended.

Where to eat in St Jean Pied de Port

I remember a crêperie on the main drag that was lovely. I want with an American pilgrim lady who'd never had French pancakes before and thought them an exotic treat.

Arles to Puente-la-Reina: May to mid-June or September to mid- October?

Hi, I walked to the col from Arles last year, May to June, later than you are intending. No snow, it was sometimes cold in the evenings especially higher altitude sections, and there was rain. A lot was in shade so I only had a couple of days I'd call hot. Can't compare with Autumn, no experience.

    Latest guidebook for the Norte

Is there any further news on a 2024 update to Dave Whitson's and Laura Perazzoli's guide to the Camino del Norte and Primitivo? @Dave I like your guide but the one on sale is the 2019 edition, now 5 years old. Also would it be any lighter than 350g in a new edition?

Leaving from Arles April- Haute Languedoc wild water availability

this will be an interesting trip! in 2023, I always carried water, sometimes 2.5 litres to get me to the next water source. It was not hot (not always even warm) in May, and I never ran out. From memory, there are streams, as it is quite a wet region, but I could not say if you would find a...

    Voie d'Arles

There's also Gronze.com for accommodation, but I consult it on a web browser, not in the app.

    Voie d'Arles

I recommend mapy.cz which is a map app with all the GR and camino routes, in France at least. Download the app and as an example, search for Léguevin (small town west of Toulouse). Zoom in and you will see which of the dark red lines is the Voie d'Arles.

What is the best app to learn some Spanish for the Camino? Thanks

Another point, Duolingo uses a lot of South American pronunciation rather than Spanish.
