Phone Service while traveling - Holafly?

Suggestions of alternatives DATA only esim options, consider Airalo or Saily. Can be connected either before or upon arrival. Use other app/s for phone calls-video or sms etc..

Phone Service while traveling - Holafly?

Horrible experience with Holafly!!! Purchased a data and phone esim. Had issues with the phone. They offered a 'new' esim, with same services. Turned out it was only for data and I ended up with no phone service for a couple days. Went back and forth a dozen or more times on email / text trying...

Packing List Final Review. Starting in a week! :)

Suggestion: an esim both Airalo or Saily are worth considering, amongst others. You can connect easily upon or before arrival. A Wise card or equivalent would be handy, easier to pay via Google wallet or similar.

Conditions on Napoleon today (April 27)

Maybe? It depends on whether I decide tomorrow to pop in an eSIM… It is more likely that I will do a summary at the end (when I get a SIM in Pamplona to carry on to other routes).

US International Phone plan or Spanish SIM card while on the Camino?

...70Gb or 100+ GB. In the past I have had a dual SIM phone but I use both SIMs at home and so I still need to swap SIM cards. This year I have a new Pixel phone that can take one physical SIM and multiple eSIMs and so I will be experimenting with three SIMs this year. One Spanish and two Kiwi.

    Sim card for Via Podiensis

(the OP asks specifically about France) Last year walking from Le Puy I was on Bouygues telecom. (via eSim) it was fine for coverage and data speeds. I think Orange might have better support for English speakers, maybe. They *market* better to English speakers. :) I had to get help from a French...

    Sim card for Via Podiensis

...phone. Are there any recommendations for certain carriers who would have better reception in that part of France? Unfortunately my phone is not eSIM compatible so I will need to purchase one on arrival. I would love to do this at the airport when I first arrive if possible. I speak...

    SIM card for Europe

I would follow the providers advice. Do they say that the SIM will not work outside the country for which it is bought?

    SIM card for Europe

I see airalo has individual countries are for regions like Europe or Asia. The regional are more expensive. i'am only going to be in Portugal for a couple days the rest in Spain. I'am going to Spain than Portugal than Spain again.

    SIM card for Europe

Dougfitz - I have been looking at many different eSIM websites for my upcoming Camino. They have plans for individual countries and then regional plans for Europe or Asia etc. the regional plans are more expensive. Based on what you are saying, I can buy an eSIM for Spain and it should also...

    SIM card for Europe

I am not sure what you mean by a 'regional plan'. I know that here in Australia the SIM providers advertise plans that cover Europe and the UK as well as other regions of the world. My wife and I both use these and have the SIM delivered to us before we leave home. But what you get is a SIM from...

    SIM card for Europe

...is incomplete. People in Europe travel extensively between countries in the EU. This is not a recent thing and it certainly didn't start when eSIMs were introduced. Most plans purchased from the major telecommunications companies in any country in Europe will allow for the phone and data to...

    SIM card for Europe

From my research, it seems that I will need to buy a regional eSim and not one for a particular country. In walking the Camino, I will start in Portugal and end in Spain. Almost all the regional Europe plans cover all the countries in the EU. I am trying to figure out which one has the best...

    SIM cards and e-sim advice

Hi. Go to Trecile’s link for the full story. There is still a lot of confusion out there between an eSIM and a physical SIM card Anyway, I used Airalo. I had a data only plan and used WhatsApp or Skype calls for phone calls. It took a bit of concentration to set up but once I had a plan and...

    SIM cards and e-sim advice

...and if there is a problem there are more Vodafone stores and to recharge it is very simple. Read also what I wrote below. I have no idea about eSim. Last year when I flew into Barcelona I went to Tech and Fly. in the airport to see if I could get a Vodafone sim card. Yes they had them of...

    SIM cards and e-sim advice

Vodafone is good. Flying in? Go to cell phone kiosk, they will charge you about $30E for a 28day physical sim card ( leave your eSim activated for when you return ), they will activate new SIM at the kiosk....and you are "good to go".

US International Phone plan or Spanish SIM card while on the Camino?

Holafly eSIM update. I’ve now been using Holafly for 10 days in France an rural Spain. I’ve had good tele signal almost everywhere ranging from 3G (didn’t know it was still used), LTE, 4G and most of the time, 5G. The few calls have connected easily and WhatsApp works great. At this point, I...

US International Phone plan or Spanish SIM card while on the Camino?

...messages about my “excessive data usage”. Holafly is a bit more expensive, and I find that the setup instructions could be a lot clearer, particularly regarding how to work in tandem with your original eSim. But it worked great, and I never got any harassment about the amount of data I used.

    Any esim recommendations?

Accommodation - to book or not to book

...the place was probably closed, and I would look for something else. I used Skype calls for phone calls very successfully - I had a data only eSim. Occasionally I asked a hospitalario to help. My last Camino - VDLP - I only looked for vacancies if I was landing in a bigger town or tourist...
