    Whats your capsule wardrobe?

1 pair full or 3/4 length leggings 1 pair running/biking shorts 1 macabi skirt 1 long sleeve tech fabric shirt 1 short sleeve tech fabric shirt very lightweight swing dress (for after walking and sleeping) My pic shows my basic set up, with the shorts or leggings worn under the skirt depending...

    Wired Noise Cancelling Ear Buds?

I have one of those headbands and wear it on long flights. Very comfortable for sleeping while listening to music or white noise, but it does nothing to reduce exterior noise.

    Percentage of Return Pilgrims?

On the Ingles this summer it was almost all first first timers; besides me, I met only one couple who had done other routes. No one I met was repeating the Ingles.

Walk from A Coruna to Ferrol

I don’t know but my understanding is that actually walking that “trail”’is near impossible as it goes through many private and military properties, so you have to take some very long and unpleasant detours.

Walk from A Coruna to Ferrol

You can also walk the San Antonio Mission Trail in Texas and start in A Coruna.

Walk from A Coruna to Ferrol

Are you sure you aren't thinking of one of the bridges from Ferrol to Fene? If one takes the first bridge, it cuts out a lot of KMs, but if I recall correctly, you're still over the 100KM.

Last 100km to Santiago which route

Ferrol! Really, the Ingles is a wonderful Camino, walking from the coast, along estuaries, through vineyards and forests, and into Santiago. Roughly in the middle is the wonderful town of Betanzos. And it’s not too crowded, but also not lonely Another wonderful thing about the Ingles as a...

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

Today the Philly Chapter of American Pilgrims paid homage to the Day of the Dead by strolling through Laurel Hill Cemetery. The oldest tombstones are from the revolutionary period, and the newest ones just a few days old.

    Nonaka Lodgings

Looking for suggestions of places to stay in the Nonaka area for next spring. Already most of the options through KT Travel are booked for the day I need, and what's left doesn't look particularly exciting. Thanks for any help.

    Death on the trail today

I echo those who pass on condolences and those offering comfort the pilgrims who were there. As an EMT, I can confirm that even in the very best of circumstances, CPR without an AED or a Lucas device immediately available is rarely effective. Bystander CPR alone is effective in less than 5%...

    Sticker Mania?

There are stickers on a telephone pole in front of my house and I love it. They change all the time, many are political, some are advertising, most are humorous. I agree that stickers shouldn’t obscure safety or directional signs, but I’m a street art fan and don’t mind them on “the street...

    Hydration bladders suggestions wanted

I’m a fan for the Gregory bladder. The handle to fill it, the quick release mechanism, and all the other details make it my first choice. I also carry a small plastic bottle as well; which I tend to fill at the public fountains and mix my electrolytes into.

Perhaps a Hidden Motivation for Walking the Camino

I have nothing good to say about EST. It *was* brainwashing, pure and simple - read back your description of the weekend seminar - every aspect of it is a brainwashing technique. Even reflecting back on those experiences 50 years later sends shivers down my spine. The Camino is, IMHO,180...

    Organizing shared expenses with friends

I use an app called “cost split” which is free and easy to set up. It allows you to input costs in any currency (but you have to provide the exchange rate) and to split costs unevenly (eg there are 3 of you traveling but one night only two people decide to go out for dinner) and at the end...

    Altus H30 vs J30

So, I had considered that, along with adding the pocket slits that the Decathalon has. Turned out that having it done (I’m no seamstress) would cost the same and add as much weight as buying the Decathlon. So I bought the Decathalon.

    from a lover of graffiti

There’s a difference between street art and graffiti. I’ve seen way too many people post pictures of street art that they’ve loved, laughed at, thought about, and posed with. And few people that I know of would prefer to walk through a barren concrete overpass than one with brightly painted...

    Buying an Apartment in Spain?

This is brilliant -- a strategy that I will employ, I think.

Walked the Camino over 12 times to Santiago never once went into Cathedral.

You’re right! Went back to my pictures and I don’t know why I thought he was wearing a kilt - memory is a funny thing. He was wearing traditional Galician clothing. Anyway, I meant this guy.

I like the one who wears a kilt* and looks the part - both because of what he wears and his playing. I appreciate the effort he puts into it. *There may be more than one who wears a kilt, but the last few times I walked through the players (including a woman and another man) did not.
