Young people on the Camino Primitivo

We walked the Primitivo in mid May this year. My significant other and I are in our 60s, my 20 year old niece came with us. I felt bad for my niece as there were not many young people at all for her to hang out with.

    Camino Primitivo for younger person

After leaving Lugo, demographics have changed substantially. Lots of young people now. If we could only do something about all the rain!

    Camino Primitivo for younger person

Okay, we just finished the 8th day of our Camino Primitivo. It is definitely not the demographic I had hoped for. While she is being a good sport and enjoying the people we meet, there aren’t any young people. It seems mostly like a bunch of old men (I can say that since I’m an old man too)...

No train from Madrid to Oviedo?

I found a ride using the BlaBlaCar website. 54 euros for 2 people. Not bad and will give us a chance to meet a couple of Spaniards.

No train from Madrid to Oviedo?

Thanks. Unfortunately the afternoon buses are sold out. I've got a rideshare request in with BlaBla Car.

No train from Madrid to Oviedo?

We are arriving in Madrid on May 5th. I went online today to purchase train tickets to Oviedo and it doesn't show any train service. Does that mean the trains are sold out? Or maybe some other problem? Can anyone recommend an alternate way to get to Oviedo? Is there a service where we could...

    Different because it's shorter

I did the Camino Frances from St. Jean in 2022. I wouldn't call it life changing or anything that dramatic, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so freeing to unburden myself of responsibilities. It was 5 weeks of a simple life; walk, eat, drink, sleep. Everything you needed was in your pack...

    Camino Primitivo for younger person

I did the Frances from St. Jean in 2022 and am eager to do another Camino. However, I don't have a much time this year. Thought I would try the Camino Primitivo starting in Oviedo. This time my partner is going to join me. She's 60 and I'm 64. Our niece would also like to join us, she's 20...

    Shin Splints pre-Camino

Do not discount shortening your stride. When your heel hits the ground, your foot rotates forward until it is flat on the ground. A longer stride increases the angle between your tibia and your foot when the foot hits, putting more strain on the shin muscles. A short stride reduces the pull...

    Shin Splints pre-Camino

I developed a shin splint after a week on the Camino and feared it would end my pilgrimage. However, I found a way to tape it, used voltaren on it, shortened my stride and it eased up over time. By the time I finished, it was a non issue. I took a day off in Burgos and Leon, otherwise averaged...

    Padron Peppers

Thanks all, I will start with la tienda.com. Of course all of these suggestions, while helpful, are no substitute for enjoying them in person on the Camino.

    Padron Peppers

I loved the padron peppers when I was on the Camino. However, I live in a small town and have never seen them in the grocery store. Has anybody on the forum ever tried to grow them? If so, any pointers? What type of climate do you live in/

Emilio Estevez interview about the Way re-release

The first time I saw it I thought it was pretty good but nothing spectacular. Then I watched it a second time and was hooked. I've watched it a couple dozen times now, both before and after I walked the Camino and love everything about it. I purchased the movie on Amazon Prime and can watch...

    In Defense of Booking Com

Exactly. Do you want to worry about that extra step or just enjoy your wine and padron pimientos?

    In Defense of Booking Com

As mentioned earlier, booking.com does have benefits for the operator, but also adds cost. It’s up to the operator to decide whether it’s worth it to them. It does not make booking.com evil for charging for their services. The operator is free to use them or not use them. Although it is not...
