Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

...have lived there their whole lives. She also insisted on taking me to the local ayuntamiento to get a stamp in my credentiale. Los Huertos - the bar is indeed very good and most welcome before the next stage to Ane. Tomorrow I am heading for Olmedo, ready to 'cross over' to the Camino de...

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

...be fairly gentle ie not too many 30 km stages in a row. I remember how tired I was at the end of each day in the early stages of the CF. The Olmedo to Medina stage is fairly moderate at just 23 km. But I will have the flexibility to change my mind and my route as I go, so could stretch myself...

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

...mentioned and also remember few threads about switching from Madrid to Levante (https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/search/4761076/?q=Olmedo&o=date). On the stage between Vileguillo and Alcazaren you cross CL-602 road. For Olmedo you have to turn left and stay on it I guess. At least I...

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

...todos, I will soon be starting out on my second Camino, this time a 'hybrid' Camino, starting in Madrid on about 1 October, walking as far as Olmedo then 'veering left' to join the Camino de Levante at Medina del Campo, from there onto Zamora and the VdlP/Sanabres to Santiago. Looking forward...

Jumping from the Madrid to the VdlP

...at a map I think they were between Villeguillo and Alcazaren. The CL-602 cuts across the camino about 10 km after Villeguillo and goes through Olmedo to Medina. This would be a longish day from Villeguillo – perhaps 35 km, but maybe you could stay in Olmedo. From Medina to Zamora is about 90...

First draft of my route with stages

Nice zig-zag-ing, David, and some long stages too :) When are you planning to do this? Most possibly I'll start from Valencia on Levante in 2nd week of June. For Madrid you can search for my posts (I walked it this summer) in Madrid section and for Levante Ivar kindly posted my distances &...

Thanks Laurie, I will look at your stages. We are planning a 2 day switch between Caminos but I will go beyond Coca at the advice of another forum member.

...distance from Coca to Medina is 46 km, so depending on your stamina, it's a one or two day walk. Looks like a logical stopping place would be Olmedo. For the Camino de Madrid, I think the CSJ online guide is more than sufficient, along with posts on this forum. From Medina on the Levante...

I remember there's a branch to the left approx.4kms after Villeguillo that goes to Olmedo for another 7kms. From what I see on the map from Asociacion de Madrid it is marked. Here's another link: http://pilgrim.peterrobins.co.uk/routes/details/levante.html What I see from maps here it should be...

Our plan was to walk from Coca to Olmedo and stay the night. Then from Olmedo to Medina del Campo. We hope to do the entire route on foot with no bus/taxi/train trips until we are ready to come home.

High-speed rail line Madrid-Valladolid opens this weekend

...lines are not electrified so they have to faff about changing the loco. Times to Galicia will however lessen when a new interchange at Olmedo opens next spring. This was a major engineering project, with the tunnel through the Guadarrama now the world's 4th longest at 28.3km. The high-speed...

    High-speed trains

revealed today that completion next year of the first stage of the northern AVE line, between Madrid and Olmedo south of Valladolid, should cut journey times between Madrid and Galicia by more than an hour. http://www.elcorreogallego.es/index.php ... icia=85539
