Connecting the Camino de Madrid to the Via de la Plata

...and was contemplating switching over to the Levante to avoid the traffic of the CF in Sahagun. The shortest connection point is between Villeguillo and Medina del Campo, about 30 km. Right after Villeguillo, there's a sign pointing to Olmedo, and then from there, it's a straight shot to Medina.

    Videos from Madrid route

I too I took a cab to Olmedo where I stayed at a four-star hotel, relatively affordable according to American standards. It was a good move as I spent an extra day there allowing the heatwave to pass and my body to recover. From there I walked to Valdestillas. Good luck!

LIVE from the Camino West from Montserrat

...bright frosty morning, sadly without coffee. Anywhere, as there are no villages between Villeguillo and Alcazarén. I was tempted to detour to Olmedo, which didn't look far off, but its bar might have been closed too. A few km and there was a big sign saying "La Deputación de Segovia les desea...

Virtual walk on the Camino de Madrid - Detailed planning

...an albergue and a couple of Casa Rurales. 7 km further takes us to Villeguillo, where there is a bar and an albergue. Then, we then walk 16 km without services or provisions, to Alcazarén, where there is a bar, albergue, and buses to Valladolid and Olmedo. As @Anniesantiago posted elsewhere...

Getting ready for a virtual walk on the Camino de Madrid

...own here) suggests that there are good places to do that. Look at the places where the purple and red lines get closest. One as VN says is Olmedo on the Madrid to Medina del Campo, then on the Levante to Zamora and then the Sanabrés. I met two Spanish pilgrims years ago who left the...

Camino Ucles —144 km into Madrid

I walked the VdlP 4 years ago so do not want to repeat that. I prefer to walk new tracks with few people if I can.

Camino Ucles —144 km into Madrid

...your way onto the Via de la Plata so then just do the Astorga > Ponferrada section to the Invierno, by cutting across from Villeguillo via Olmedo to Medina del Campo ; switch to the Levante 'til Zamora ; then La Plata to Astorga. hmmm going via Madrid really does open up a plethora of options !!

LIVE from the Camino On Camino Madrid now

Hi, I will be leaving Segovia on Tuesday morning and would like to stay in Los Huertos. You indicated that there is a nice new albegue with 4 beds. I'm not seeing that in any literature. Do you happen to know the name and or phone number? Where do you think I could just show up? Thank you,

LIVE from the Camino On Camino Madrid now

...Valladolid over Easter so I have to take my time, which is good for my toes. It was mentioned on the forum that there is the small village of Olmedo on a hill to the left before Alcazaren that looks nice but not on the Camino. I thought I could go over there for a night and have a look...

    Toledo to Madrid

...Avila. As I know the closest Madrid and Levante get is between Villeguillo (Madrid) and Medina del Campo (Levante) - 30km if you go through Olmedo which is 20km from Villeguillo. I didn't find any AG roads that runs parallel to asphalt road and also because of time constraints it will be...

...be a fine place to stay for an evening, in the albergue, and having a fun evening in the bar. Shortly after leaving Villiguillo, you will see Olmedo on a small hill on the left a few kilometres away. That looked like a nice place to stay as well, so something to consider. The walk to...

...now and I am trying hard not to go to bed before 9.00pm! I only plan to do 31 kms tomorrow to Alcazaren, but may have a holiday and stop in Olmedo instead - I need to do some research tonight to see what is there and also check the weather. If you stop here, walk down the road. The...

Where to stay (currently) in Manzanares

...in the polideportivo, note pilgrims are now required to ring a hospitalero rather than pick up the key from Margarita at the bakery. A very warm welcome and quite adequate facilities. 8 Oct Here I headed off to the Camino de Levante via Villeguillo and Olmedo... Hope this is useful. Elizabeth

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

Even from Villeguillo to Olmedo there's a nice alternative on presumably AG roads and past three smaller lakes as I can see on Google maps. But it might be a bit longer. Enjoy Levante :)

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

...outside Villeguillo there was an arrow indicating right for the Camino de Madrid. I carried on past it, staying on the VP1105 through Llano de Olmedo and Aguas to Olmedo. Lots of on road walking today from Olmedo to Medina del Campo. A straight forward route, plenty of road shoulder and...

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

Did you walked through Coca and Villeguillo and then turned left to Llano de Olmedo and Aguasal? The last part already off the Camino would be VP-1105. I looked at the map once again and realized that if you continue to CL-602 after Villeguillo and turning left on it you would eventually go a...

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

In Olmedo, half-way between Camino. Staying in Hostal la Mesnadita €35, includes breakfast. It seems to be the same place as the Gran Posada Mesnada. Big old house, seen better days but comfortable enough. Management seems rather Fawlty Towers... I don't know about Margarita in Nava. On the...

Starting on Camino de Madrid at beginning of October

A kitchen in Ane albergue? Funny. And nowhere nothing to buy. Only if you're lucky to be in the village when the tienda-van comes by. So sorry to hear Pasteleria Rosana in Nava is closed. Is that permanently? Any news on Margarita? Nice to hear the bar in Los Huertos is opened again. It looked...
