Camino Del Norte - San Sebastian to Bilbao

Hi, I did the Norte from Irun to Villaviciosa then the Primitivo to Santiago. If you want to see videos of the Norte, I have playlist for that and other Camino's if you might be interested: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4YjzZVU6rq9AeSWQrfMiFZF-79AZph6R. I hope you might find them...

Getting from Madrid to San Sebastian

I flew from Madrid to the San Sebastian/Irun Airport using Iberia airlines last year and it was relatively inexpensive and a very efficient connection. Obviously more than a bus or train but was worth it to me an at least worth checking out.

    Bar etiquette

I do it also, if not for any other reason than to show the bar owners that we Pilgrims appreciate the service they provide.

Is AllTrails useful on the Norte?

I also use All Trails extensively in the US but I used Far Out for the Norte (and Frances) and loved it. I did use All Trails on the Primitivo and it worked as well as it does for local trails in the US. Again, I prefer Far Out when they have maps available for the trail I'm hiking.

    Shoes camino primitivo

I walked the Norte from Irun to Villaviciosa then cut over and walked the entire Primitivo in Terraventure Trail Runners last Fall and had no problems whatsoever. I also hike and backpack in areas where hiking boots that offer a bit more support are necessary but that was not the case on the...

    Rain Pants?

Every piece of gear falls into two primary categories, necessities or luxuries. Rain/wind pants fall somewhere in between. I think the decision boils down to the total weight to be added versus the total utility over the course of your trip. If you can afford the weight my preference is to...

Walking 3 days of Camino del Norte from Bilbao

I walked from Irun to Villaviciosa on the Norte in September of this year then cut over on the Primitivo to finish in Santiago. I'm not in any way pushing my video's but I did a daily (sometimes two days) video series of that walk on YouTube if you want to check it out. You might find it...

    Second "Half" of the Norte

I started on August 30th and walked through September and ended on October 4th. Other than my first week, the weather was awesome!! Little to no rain, and mild temperatures. The days were getting shorter at the end and the mornings colder but it should still be great by the time you get there...

    Second "Half" of the Norte

Thanks! While I loved the Primitivo, I also missed the scenery of the Norte and the friends I had made up to the turnoff. Sounds like I need to go back and experience the remainder of the Norte!

    Second "Half" of the Norte

Hi: I just finished walking from Irun to Villaviciosa on the Norte cutting off the Norte shortly after to walk the Primivito to Santiago. I'd like to know how people who have done the complete Norte feel about the balance of the Norte that I didn't do (from Villaviciosa to Santiago). Did you...

    Pavement!!!

I just got back from walking the Norte then cutting over to the Primitivo into Santiago and I couldn't agree more with your assessment of the amount of pavement on the Norte. While I thoroughly enjoyed the Norte, it did not feel like a Pilgrimage as much as the Primitivo and (last year) the...
