    Walking the Primitivo in November

It will be wet and not much fun. That was my experience last October.

Health & Safety Conditions on Portuguese Camino

That’s encouraging. Looks like more rain is on the way and hopefully that will help. Thank you.

Florence to Rome through Assisi In Winter - Advice

We walked from Assisi to Rome in October. The weather was pretty good, can’t talk to December though. But, I would caution that it is much more mountainous than the Camino and it takes more planning, as towns are further apart and accommodations are harder to find. Another thing to keep in mind...

Buses to and from Leon - Cascantes?

Thank you! I also found these two, but nothing in reverse. When I tried reverse on Alsa, I got nothing. I will see. May be somebody knows something. If not, there is always a taxi. :) Yes, I am planning San Salvador, second half of October. That is late, so if the weather forecast says "no", we...

    The dreaded descent into Zubiri

I have walked down from El Acebo in both October and November and every time the weather was bad with rain. It was late October through late November to give you context. I always took the road. I walked against traffic of course and it was easy with very, very light traffic. The road is good...

    Weather on Via Podiensis Sep-Oct

September will be pleasantly warm and mostly dry -- cooling off and showers more frequent as the month progresses. October cooler still, rain more frequent, as the month progresses. But things have been quite variable lately, so it pays to have a European weather app on your phone (if not already).

Night temp for a sleeping bag liner

I have completed CF and Le Puy camino with the liner only and worn fleece vest, long sleeved top and leggings to bed. Last October I completed the CF with two weeks of temperatures over 30. My cheap, lightweight 600 gm Decathlon sleeping bag was perfect. I took the liner as well. I used...

    Sleeping gear for VdlP

Thank you that is good to know! Read your previous VdlP thread - very helpful. I’ll be going with my partner so I am sure there will be days (especially north) where we split a (hopefully warm!) room.

First Camino Frances - Starting 2nd week Oct. Fall advice please!

Actually they are. www.accuweather.com for example has predictions thru December. No idea how accurate they are, although the daily predictions are normally pretty good. As you say, I personally would prepare for a bit of everything. @JaneFall, Hector is reporting some distinctly chilly...

    A first timer

I have walked the Norte a few times. Not in October so I don’t know about weather patterns at that time of year. The Norte has a lot of sections along the coast but much of it is inland. There is a fair amount of road walking which I find unpleasant. I would highly recommend researching this...

    Spring has sprung?

Greetings. I walked the camino in September and October, had great weather, and got to see a bit of fall colors as I got closer to Santiago. The meseta was pretty bare because the harvest had already been take in. I'm thinking about walking the camino again next April/May to get a different...

    Bedding/accommodations on the Camino Primitivo?

Thank you for your reply, I am going in October and doing the primitivo, from what I gather it will be cold in bits. Taking some warm thermal layers to use at night already and now definitely taking a liner. Hoping the two will do the job although I am aware that I tend to be cold sleeper. Time...

    Weather in April

I have walked three times in mid-April - mid May. The temperature ranged from zero C in the morning to occasionally high 30s in the middle of the day. Mostly though it was pleasant. Not much rain. Less people around but they increased in May.

    Suggest a route

Which camino do you want to walk and how long are you walking. In early October it can still be hot or maybe not. No one can predict the weather especially today. Obviously southern caminos will generally be hotter and caminos like the Norte or from Porto along the coast and more mountainous...

    Rainy season on Camino frances

Going by the rain that fell the last two weeks in October in Galicia, I would say October/November was the rainy season.

Weather in November on the Frances and the Portugues

I started my 2017 Frances from SJPP on 13 Nov. No issues with albergues being open (and I’ve just got home from the Frances starting 3 January SJPP and no issues with albergues on that one either). Now the weather….who would know! We saw a lot more snow 2017 Nov/Dec than 2024 Jan/Feb. In 2017...

    Hello from London 👋

HI Kate, I have just returned from doing my first Camino . Started in A Coruna, an often over looked route . It was truly beautiful , full of forest walks and mainly rural all the way except for the coming out of Coruna and entering Santiago. If you are pressed for time ( 3.5 days) I would...

Hi everyone, as a relatively new member, please can anyone advise as to what to expect on the Frances in October, plan on walking this route next year and beginning planning. In particular weather and availability of accommodation. Thanks in advance, any advice welcome.
