    Alert Meteorological ALERT in Valencia

@JLWV, you and your fellow countrymen have my sympathies. In February 2023 cyclone Gabrielle hit my home region of Hawkes Bay, the destruction was significant. We were incredibly lucky, we 'only' lost 11 people (A little perspective: our entire region is home to around 183,000). Around 9,000...

Wow, what an honour!! That's something you're not going to forget in a hurry.

Litoral - Central - Spiritual routes in limited time

@YanaCamino, I have yet to walk this route - you have some great planning suggestions above. A recommendation: start slow. Starting with twenty five plus kilometre days is fine when you're experienced and know your limits, however you say that you have little experience. Better to skip...

    Two Camino Ingles in one!

Many Kiwis and Australians in London seriously had their Parents convinced that they were turning to religion because they went to Church every Sunday ..... Except it wasn't a church, it was 'The Church', a pub. The venue moved around Clapham and King's Cross over the years, and varied from a...

Where are people on CF these days

Better than drowning, just watching the news from Valencia 72 people dead (so far) due to flash flooding in the region. I realise you're quite some distance away but nonetheless it looks like rain might be heading your way. Stay safe!

Where are people on CF these days

There's an expression in English 'Be careful what you wish for - you might just get it". You didn't want crowds - you haven't got them 🤣. I guess one positive about being alone is that you can stretch your washing line pretty much wherever you like inside! I know you and I have very different...

    Good diet post camino

Valid point, poorly worded on my part. By limiting portion sizes I was just meaning you're better to start with a smaller amount and go back for more if needed, rather than starting with a heaped plate which you're likely to finish regardless. I guess my approach is the opposite of what I do...

    Good diet post camino

One real positive for you: as Aussies you're heading into summer. In the short term your body is going to want to eat. Try and make sure you've got a few more healthy but tasty snacks around. Fresh fruit of course. Just think: you've got all of those gorgeous berries coming into season...

    Del Norte Gluten Free

@KiwiMike, really great to read such a positive take on your experience. This post, and others like it, are exactly what the forum needs to help ensure that other gluten intolerant Pilgrims have a great Camino. Appreciated

David, I understand why you ended up having second thoughts but I'm not so sure that I would not have done the same as you in your place. Let's face it if he'd been walking rather than on an electric scooter, and said he was on a pilgrimage to Fatima you probably would have slept easily. Ditto...

    Our Camino Parcel Saga

It's a useful tip for time frames over 15 days, but even there you would need to be careful. 50 days is a long time when they're only obliged to hold it for 15! Assuming Correos follows similar protocols to the British, US ,Australian and New Zealand Postal Services ( which is a big assumption...

    34 or 38 L pack

Rather than switch off all notifications, if you mean that you have lost interest in a particular thread, just go to the top of the thread and click on 'unwatch', and again when it asks you if you're sure. You will then only receive notifications if somebody quotes you.

    Our Camino Parcel Saga

Canada Post will not hold packages for more than 15 days. According to Google Swiss post is the same.

    34 or 38 L pack

Doug, you raise a very valid point about the Ops physical size vs other pilgrims. Weight wise he's 25% bigger than I, and 17cm taller. That's a lot of additional cloth. That said, walking in the summer months you require significantly fewer items than walking the shoulder seasons. In my case I...

Presumably you're referring to this: I've never come across a more useful or comprehensive guide. https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/how-to-properly-size-fit-and-adjust-a-backpack.73307/

LIVE from the Camino Cameron's Verde - October 2024 condition report

Wow, I didn't even know that there were any variants! I just followed the green arrows and the directions from @Telelama that I pointed you to earlier, I didn't have any GPS tracks downloaded. I went wrong a couple of times but after not seeing anything for a few hundred meters backtracked and...

David, amazing that you are still finding so many new experiences to share - many thanks. I was searching through some old photo albums earlier. I came across a number of Street art photos that I took in the mid to late 90s. , couldn't help but think of you and this thread.

    Sticker Mania?

I've seen a few taxi stickers and unbelievably a few with QR codes advertising a very popular camino YouTuber (who should know better) on the Primitivo, but nothing like the quantity you're showing. Just like graffiti, I think of it as vandalism. Truly horrible.

    Hydration bladders suggestions wanted

But that pre-supposes that I would fill the three liter water bladder which I do not. As I said I typically carry one and a half litres, I only carry more as/if required. ( IE seldom) I would then also have no idea how much water I had actually drunk without checking, something that I...

    Hydration bladders suggestions wanted

@Donna Sch, following recommendations from a friend I tried the Gregory 3D Hydro. FYI , it came out the highest on Gear Lab testing ( the Evo was very closely behind) https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/camping-and-hiking/best-hydration-bladder It worked very well but ultimately I decided...
