Favorite Pilgrimage Memoir *Not* Set on the Camino Francés?

I'm curious as to what TV shows you have seen her in of late. I don't think she has done much TV work for the past couple of decades. I think she is more involved now in writing and directing. Personally, I really enjoyed the book!

Are waterproof hiking shoes a good idea?

Hi, My last 2 caminos finished in early and late November. Both times we had so much rain. I don't know how I would have gone just in runners walking through Mud and deep puddles. I was thankful for my old waterproof boots....and poncho and rain jackets and pants! On both walks it was warm at...

Rugby World Cup 2023 (Sept-Oct) and Camino plans

Yes, I should have realized that since my brother is going over to watch. We were looking at starting around 16th Sept and he mentioned a big game in Saint Etienne around that date! I am so bogged down in trying to plan our first 6 weeks of the trip prior to walking that I haven't got to drill...

Maximum size of luggage that can be sent through the mail, and how it should be prepared?

Hi Ivar, We have used your service before for previous caminos, Frances and Portuguese. We are now, hopefully, going to walk the Via Podeinesis and wondering if it is feasible to get luggage sent from Le Puy direct to you. Our plan is to, fingers crossed, get to St. Jean see how we feel and...

    Camino weather oct/nov

We started the Primativio in mid-October 2019 and sadly had to abandon it after about 5 days due to constant heavy rain. It was miserable! Had blisters from constant wet feet.( We had been walking for 2 weeks prior on another section and our feet were great!) The weather forecast predicted...

    Camino Primitivo

Hi, We, unfortunately 😥, just abandoned the Primativo today due to heavy rain, blisters and slipping and sliding up and down ‘hills’, ( I call them steep mountains and even steeper descents 😉)... Patricia, the lovely owner at of the new arlburge Casa Suena at Salas said that she thinks June is...

Hi Iza, We may see you on the way... currently in Leon and tossing up whether to do the San Salvador and then Primativo but the forecast is for rain most of next week so might have to skip the Salvador and just do the primativo... am a bit apprehensive after leaving our Meseta family and...

Walking Le Puy route in May 2019

Hi Felice, Just wondering how you would compare the Le puy to San Salvador/primitive for difficulty/ scenery/ social ...I realise it is totally subjective but am so confused as to which one to do this September....yep left everything, including training😉, to the last minute🤦‍♀️... cheers Carm

    Wine

I too have pondered this question. (no not the, 'am I an alcoholic? one haha) when I drink red, my face also goes red (as does my teeth) but when I drank on the Camino I not only felt like I could drink the whole bottle and still be coherent but my face didn't go red until I crossed into...

    DSLR-camera on the camino

Hi all, I compromised and took my Olympus OM-D camera with one smaller zoom lens. It is not as big and bulky as my bigger DSLR but takes comparable photos. I also had the AARN back pack system so I carried it in one of my front pouches making it really easy to pull out and shoot... which I did...

Has anyone stayed at Albergue Oncineda in Estella?

Hi, A group of us stayed there last October. I think we were the only people there. It was a bit of a hike back into town for dinner but not a real problem and when you leave in the morning you have 15 mins up on everyone else! The place reminded me of an old 1950's hospital, long stark...

    Looking for backpack accessory pouch

I second the Aarn system. People may have laughed at me & the pack but I had no problems retrieving camera, guide book, water, gloves, lippy etc from front pouches. The whole pack system was also extremely comfortable & waterproof.
