Modest Private-Room Accommodations in Sahagun - Seeking Recommendations

I knew the owner. She was struggling to make it work during covid but was too drenched in accumulating debt like so many. Eventually, she vacated. I’m not sure of the current status but passing thru sahagun a few months ago, they told me it was empty now and that she had left. I am wondering too...

    San Salvador

It was difficult for me too. I was surprised that right away, five kilometers from Leon, it gives you a glimpse of it- that this is not the meseta anymore. If I had the rain that you did it would have been rough. I did it on a whim without researching it much that it surprised me how all of the...

    San Salvador

I’m not one who is big on getting the paper work, but it is something that seems right to go into the cathedral and get counted. I like having that paper too; it added to my satisfaction of having completed a journey of six days (in my case) and having nobody to celebrate it with except Woody...

Any tips on walking the Meseta in February?

The meseta is my favorite. Chance of rain is definitely less, but when it comes, it comes suddenly on this day before Leon, I got walloped and drenched gratefully there was this little place 10 kilometers later where I could at least dry out comfortably.

    San Salvador

Congratulations on a great Camino selection pick especially if you are an experienced hiker. I did it this year from Leon to Oviedo but was thinking while doing it that one could do it reverse and that would work fine. With that said, I think the best way for me is northbound- ending in Oviedo...

I’m on the CF and need a shop that sells walking sticks - any suggestions?

As an hospitalero in the albergue system. I can say that you could have a good chance if asked in any albergue private or otherwise, if they had any walking poles that were left awhile ago. Many pilgrims leave poles and never return to get them.

Help With Shoes for Over Pronation

No doubt. No one type fits all there.

Any tips on walking the Meseta in February?

Been there done that and would do it again. The meseta in February was an experience in the area of weather. Chiefly the biggest factor was the wind which can get cold. As always especially here where weather can go extremes. Layers was the key for me. Great sun. So good to be able to take a...

From the Atlantic to SJPP using the GR10 or Gr11?

Has anyone walked from the Atlantic to SJPP using the GR10 or Gr11(?)? What is the infrastructure like along that part of the GR. Did you meet other hikers? What month did you do it? Where did you sleep or eat? What were the options? I hear that part is less difficult that the part I did more to...

Help With Shoes for Over Pronation

And the winner for me Salomon Quest. I’m an over pronating folk pilgrim and this question I relate to. This has been the greatest challenge as far as hiking gear for me. 1. Merrell hiking shoes did not work for me either. 2. I too had tried several types. In then, I found this Salomon boot and...

LIVE from the Camino Live from the Camino Salvador - it’s hot and very tough here, but incredibly beautiful

There were two night that i tent and a good sleeping bag would've helped me but that's because I start late in the day and easily get lost. I had the few bucks for hostels and pensions easily reachable but slept in the cold on two nights- an adventure no less.

LIVE from the Camino Live from the Camino Salvador - it’s hot and very tough here, but incredibly beautiful

The Camino Salvador is my favorite so far as I completed it recently. On the Camino Frances after the famed meseta, turning right (north) in Leon was a great decision, but as mentioned by original poster, it's harder than others. I was suprised how even on day one (midway) provided me with a few...

Getting to Pamplona from Madrid Airport: Is 3 Hours Enough Time?

Three hours sounds like plenty of time provided you know what your doing. It has taken me an average of 25 mins to get from plane through the passport stamp to my luggage pick-up. Grab your bag exit the swing doors turn right and follow the signs to T4 Metro- 25 mins walling in Airport to T4...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD How are the minnow Albergues coping now Ivar?

I have been an hospitalero in this albergue. It one as you describe "labour of love" type and is one that may or may now be in need but the act of donating would be a boost for the spirit of this type albergue as they refuse nobody and do much for any pilgrim. And if you emailed the manager, she...

First timer on the Camino del Norte

The norte is my personal favorite for the landscape. It is exciting having views of the sea appear at times when one least expects. You'll have your choice of many beaches, some of which, will be empty. It is less crowded and a bit more physically challenging than the others I've done. In...

First time / Del Norte August 11 / Simple question

Many pilgrims want to reference their original credential to remember the distances and places they slept etc, so for many pilgrims, it's meaningful to make sure you get it stamped somewhere from the town in which you depart. Most places that you would stay before embarking on your journey have...
