New water filter - 2 oz.

Millbank filter, that takes me back to my Army days! I was also posted once to Millbank where the bag was designed. A little slow but effective and comes in two sizes for group and individual use.

    Using Cards or Cash?

Never use your card in a bank ATM if the bank is closed. If there is a problem and the ATM retains your card you cannot get it back until the bank opens.

I would also recommend this brand for the personalisation aspect. I have walked with them over several caminos and on day walks.

    Please clarify compostela

I started in Santiago and walked to Muxía then Fisterra and onwards to Santiago and the Office gave me a Compostela and Certificate of Distance for the whole distance. So I am not sure about your emphasis on the START.

Lockers, Shipping Luggage & Early riser Peregrino

Just in case anyone is misled, your 'All' should read 'Most' as Portugal is on the same time as the UK (as should be most of Spain). So those walking the Portuguese Camino lose an hour when crossing into Spain.

    edema solutions

Just had to cut short my Camino Portuguese due to extreme peripheral oedema. Rather than mess around medicating on the Camino, I came home to consult my doctor and found that it is a well-known side-effect of my blood pressure drug, amlodipine. Never happened to me before but a change of...

What technology are YOU using on the Camino?

I'm a GPS person, I like to know where I am and where to go. I produce my own gpx files and use them in various ways. OSMAnd is a useful app for using GPX files and Open Street Maps on an Android device, there are equivalents for Apple devices.

    Violent bagpipe player outside cathedral

I always hold my camera up and look questioningly at the person, if it is a polite nod then I take a photo, if the indication is a finger pointed at his hat then I go donativo, if it is a negative gesture then I move on. The guy playing the bagpipes usually turns his back.

The Nuts and Bolts of walking the Camino Portugues

Thank you, excellent information. One problem with the Coastal route(s) is that they seem to be variable and thus the marking possibly confusing: the Senda Litoral, the da Costa (via Vigo) the da Costa (via Valenca). Open Street Maps (OSM) now has the Costa route via Vigo as the 'official'...

    Toe Socks

If it is painless and non-irritating, it may be capillaritis. Characterized by leakage of red blood cells from small, superficial blood vessels that result in pinpoint-like hemorrhages (petechiae). I get it when I have walked in the heat and have stressed the leg by walking hard. I get it...

I am assuming that you have taken a copy of the updated list of albergues on the Francés that Ivar hosts on this forum?

Just for clarity, most do but not Denmark, Iceland, Norway and UK citizens. Norway is planning to do so from 2017.
