    Using Insoles

I suppose I have particularly tough feet from regularly sticking them in my mouth and chewing on them. Not sure if that counts as part of my strategy. Edit: Not sure if "foot in mouth disease" or "putting one's foot in one's mouth" are US-only idioms, but for those that don't recognize the...

    Using Insoles

@koilife - thanks for the tip! I have a strategy that every little helps... the right shoes, the right socks, stopping often, moisturising... and engo patches

    Using Insoles

I've previously used Engo and carry them with me in case I get into a pinch. The nice thing about Engo is they attach to the inside of the shoe. But, if you get wet much, they have a tendency to stop sticking far sooner than they otherwise might. Also, you have to attach either to the liner or...

    Using Insoles

...think the doc was trying to be helpful... I'm more curious now as to how other folks manage? Lots of people speak so highly of insoles... i'm always looking to make things better. @Magwood I've seen the Engo patches and would love to hear from anyone using them... it seems such a simple...

    Using Insoles

I have had the same issue, and the blisters were small but very deep. I have some Engo patches that I shall experiment with this year, but it could be tricky because of the need to remove the soles to dry/air. It would be great if someone came up with an alternative solution.

    Who is the panty-liner-in-the-boot-genius?

I always take sandals to wear evenings, and when I can't get my bandaged feet in my walking shoes. Might be worth a try, Kanga! Also, thanks to Janice for her comment about Benzoin. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll probably start planning the Primitivo agan .... ;)

    Who is the panty-liner-in-the-boot-genius?

@Stephen Nicholls have you ever tried walking in sandals? More air circulation. I also used Engo patches on my sandals - no idea if that worked but I certainly had no blisters.

...molded) insert that exactly matches and supports your foot. Coupled with a quality pair of socks, that is probably all most people really need. Engo patches are useful to compensate for those areas where you can't sufficiently dial in the right fit. The second issue, moisture, is highly...

    Washing socks with Vaseline buildup

Hi Kerrie, no lubricant, I just don't like the thought of greasy feet! You can order the patches from blisterprevention.com.au which has a lot of interesting stuff about blisters and is quite often quoted in this forum.

    Washing socks with Vaseline buildup

Hi Deb, I heard about the Engo patches on a podcast just recently. Thought they sounded interesting. Are you using a lubricant on your feet now? I'd like to try and avoid using a lubricant if I can. Just wondering where you bought the Engo patches?

    Washing socks with Vaseline buildup

Another option is Engo blister prevention patches which go on your insole or orthotic. I have just started trying them and they have worked a treat for me. Wearing Icebreaker liner and regular socks wasn't enough although I didn't use lubricants.

    Sealskinz Waterproof Socks

...about their breathability so will be interesting to try them out in the field. Yes, hubby reckons that the plastic bags do the same job as my Engo patches but they just don't work for me as my feet macerate while the Engo patches on my orthotics and boots lasted the whole Camino. We'll...

...bags to prevent blisters, it makes sense if you read what Rebecca Ruston says in her book "The Athletes Guide to Preventin Blisters" about Engo patches absorbing "Shear", the bags must have the same effect all over the foot. I shall definitely be taking some some nappy disposal bags with...

...about filing my toenails and wear a pair of silk toe socks underneath the SealSkinz. I always have footbeds in my boots or shoes and use Engo patches on any areas that might rub. Perhaps I've just been lucky. I did buy them many years ago but wouldn't think that anything has changed in that...

First aid on Camino - some thoughts

Hello and thank you for the info. I just ordered some for next year. At the risk of overstating the obvious, the more we can do on the preventive side, the less we have to do on the treatment side. I discovered early on, that walking on the Camino has a lot to do with your feet. If your...

First aid on Camino - some thoughts

I also used Engo patches under the balls of my feet, on my Ecco sandals. No blisters.

First aid on Camino - some thoughts

Hi Dennis I have used both Injinji toe socks and Engo patches for many years now and find them very effective. On our Camino this year I had Engo patches on my boot inserts and also at the back of the heel in one of my boots. I walked for 44 days and here is a photo of how the Engo patch lasted...
