Recommendations for Foot Glide to Prevent Blisters During Camino Walk

@davebugg Thank you for your analysis of engo blister patches. and 2Toms Sport Shield. Always good to be familiar with other products and possibilities! I don’t think I currently have need-for Engo blister patches. I have used Hiking goo, and Vaseline on my feet in the past but may give 2...

Recommendations for Foot Glide to Prevent Blisters During Camino Walk

PART TWO Performance: Blister Prevention The primary test was how the Engo Blister Patch performed with loose (baggy) socks. If the loose sock material rubbed against the skin of my feet, then that would create the conditions for Shear Force Friction, which is the key factor for blister...

Recommendations for Foot Glide to Prevent Blisters During Camino Walk

...so my suggestion is to stick with it. It is very persistent and a little goes a long way, as you've probably been aware. I might also suggest Engo Patches. Below is a review I wrote up a while back. -------------------------------- Due to word count limits, this is posted in two parts. Part...

...usually washed off in the shower. I'd also highly recommend testing adhesives before you start a camino. In my case, the adhesive in Lueko tape caused a rash and water blisters on the soles of my feet. I also found Engo Blister prevention patches to work very well. They really reduce...

    New here - and excited!

Can I second how good this book is in making you aware of how to avoid getting a blister and how methodical preparation is everything. I didn’t have a blister on my Camino and I am sure that good foot, shoe and sock preparation and testing was the reason.

...or 7th editions, which have the latest information on how blisters are formed. Not what you might have thought. Vonhof encourages the use of Engo patches, placed inside your boot or shoe to reduce friction. I have now used these on 3 Caminos and while I still get a small blister or two I...

    "Toe Socks"

I wonder if Engo patches in your shoes would solve the problem for you? I have a friend that used them, and they really helped her. https://goengo.com/ BTW, @davebugg did an extensive review of Engo patches...

Vaseline - Is it an Essential Item to Pack?

...to move against the skin, creating blister causing friction forces. An effective add-on to the shoe can be the application of the self-adhering Engo Anti-Blister patches. They can be highly effective at preventing shear force friction blistering by making it easy for the sock to move inside...

Review of Engo Blister Prevention Patches

Wow, I just learned a lot! Muchas gracias, Dave, for your efforts and careful observations, then this report. It never occurred to me that the Engo patches would wear out before my insoles did (and do). I will be adding 2Toms to my foot kit.

Review of Engo Blister Prevention Patches

The Engo patch worked for me over two Caminos. I also shared one with another pilgrim. Thanks for reviewing this product. I’ll be taking a package on my next Camino too

Review of Engo Blister Prevention Patches

2Toms and Engo use differing methods to achieve the same goal. 2Toms can be very effective if applied properly. I may be misunderstanding your questions, but I have used 2Toms for difficult blister prevention needs for quite a while. HikeGoo and Body Glide are also in my arsenal. The advantage...

Review of Engo Blister Prevention Patches

I just wondered if the 2Toms on its own may have been just as good as the patches. However I do understand you were only testing the patches themselves and for a fair comparison would need to walk in the same conditions again. Mmm, maybe 2Toms might be prepared to finance such a test. 🤔 Well...

Review of Engo Blister Prevention Patches

:-) I have used it many times without Engo patches. In fact, it was using the various anti-friction concoctions that made me wonder if there might be an effect on Engo patch longevity.

Due to word count limits, this is posted in two parts. Part Two appears below as a separate post in this thread. PART ONE Engo is a company which has created a line of friction-reducing products related to various health and safety concerns. One of these products are known as “Engo Blister...
