    SIM card for Europe

From what I have seen, and confirmed by Vodafone, there is a 10gb rechargeable plan

What should I do about a phone?

My understanding is that many newer phones have multiple eSIM options. I don't quite understand how they work, but my daughter had success in a trip to Italy last year. When I did the Camino in 2022, I took two phones, my regular phone which I used with outrageous VERIZON international charges...

What should I do about a phone?

...podcasts even if they aren’t downloading (but I recommend downloading some books and things to watch ahead of time). Your phone allows for dual sim and e sim so you don’t have to change a card, it’s all in the settings and the person at the store will do it for you and make sure it’s working...

    SIM card for Europe

Yes, it is technically possible to have an eSIM that can have more than one plan installed on it. So, for example, you could have a physical SIM with a Spanish plan, and have your home plan and another installed on the eSIM. I don't think all phones with eSIMs can do this. Also, I believe at...

    SIM card for Europe

OP: Does Vodafone even offer a monthly prepaid SIM? only thing I have seen are disposable SIMs, 10gb data then through away and buy a new one. Not too sure about UK, but my Vodafone SIM from Spain worked for data in France. I keep my US T-Mobile on eSIM, and have one SIM slot for physical card...

What should I do about a phone?

Just bring your phone. You can get an e-sim if you want to keep costs down but depending on your carrier, I suspect that the trade off between cost and ease may be to use your provider's travel plan. (When I first got my phone with the dual e-sim, I thought I'd be fancy so bought an e-sim card...

What should I do about a phone?

Dual SIM if your phone has it and PAYG is by far the most cost-effective and convenient option. Otherwise, I agree to get coverage on your current plan if not horrendously expensive.

    SIM card for Europe

Would be nice to have a SIM that could be topped in Portugal and Spain. I can access Vodafone Portugal online to top from Spain? Vodafone used to be 20gb for 20€, in October '23 was 25€ for 10gb. It's fine, could be a bit tight if wanting to do video calls etc. I may walk this year with...

Advice on phone carriers and banking options for Australians on the VdlP

...correctly then zero fees from ATM's. Able to use the card contactless. I always purchase a Vodafone SIM card in Spain and use that in my dual SIM phone. Previously I have had no problems with Vodafone but this year I did have some hassle initially. My issue turned out to be that my Vodafone...

Finding SIM card in Barcelona airport Part 2

I have an IPhone ans I am all set. Even though I have a Spanish number it does not effect my family from calling or writing me on WhatsApp from their phone.

Finding SIM card in Barcelona airport Part 2

It is possible to control which number sends an SMS text message from a dual SIM phone. From memory, you use an iPhone which is beyond my ken. If you need support with an Android phone then shout out and I will help. ☺️

SIM card and place to purchase

If your phone accepts dual SIMs, and/or an e-SIM, I used Airalo on my short Camino in May. I couldn't use my US phone to call or text but WhatsApp works great. I was only in Spain so bought a country-specific one. But they also have regional, i.e., Europe, options as well. I recommend this as an...

    No tech!!!

You could grab a Sim Free Nokia 110 from Argos. It does phone and text, is dual sim (in case you want a local sim), has an MP3 player and will take a 32GB SD Card. Cost is about £40. Or you can get them on ebay for less. You retain the contact possibilities, so your family can ring you, but...

    Buying A Phone in France

Yes, indeed. In fact, I've long preferred a dual SIM phone so I can keep my 'home' SIM in one slot and the relevant international SIM in the other slot when I travel so I can conveniently switch between the two depending on the location and the purpose.

    Emergency satellite locator devices

...the past, but on Camino, that is overkill. You aren't walking across the outback or riding the Road of Bones. ;) Get a mobile phone with dual sim capability and put a local sim in it from (I think) Movistar, which has the best coverage. Coupled with your regular phone sim, that should...

    Vodafone vs Orange

At first my phone didn’t let me make calls on the Vodaphone sim, either. But I was able to go into Settings > Cellular and click to make the phone use the Vodaphone for calls, and now it works.

    Vodafone vs Orange

...a local SIM card. I am a highly technical person with fifty years of relevant experience with computers and telephone systems. I have a dual SIM phone and I have previously purchased a Vodafone pre-pay plan in Spain with out any issues. My latest purchase has been a disaster. I purchased...
