    First time fears

As suggested above, download Mapy.cz. An excellent app with easy to follow maps. Also gronze.com is a great resource. If you have time take it slow in the beginning. I am starting next week. I’ve done the Primitivo before. It is well marked. It’s a beautiful camino. It is challenging around...

Saint Jean Pied de Port to Roncesvalles, leaving in the afternoon

Just tell them you started in Geneva, drop the mic, and walk away. I’ve met people who started in Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam. Kind of makes SJPP look weak. But people love to keep score.

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way- Week 6

Thank you for sharing your physical and spiritual journey. I am planning to return to Spain next week to walk on the Camino Primitivo. Before every Camino I usually have a lot of anxiety and doubt. Recently, every day, I have considered cancelling the trip. But, reading your post from yesterday...

Questions about availability of facilities in November.

We used Jacotrans in 2023 from October 21 to November 17. From Pamplona to Astorga. The price varied and tended to increase as time went on, but was in the range listed above. Early on we started using the direct whatsapp number for the transporters. I probably couldn’t figure out how to use...

Change of route: Pamplona to Logrono, from original SJPDP to Pamplona

Starting in Pamplona is a great idea. I walked the Frances 4 times. Once from SJPP, it was great. But, the other times I started from Pamplona. PNA is easier to get to and the section to Burgos is wonderful.

El Alemán, 👍👍, nice albergue. I have stayed there three times.

Hospedería San Martin Pinario, reservas@sanmartinpinario.eu Must email or call for special cheap pilgrim rooms. Not available on regular booking site. The pilgrim rooms are on the fourth floor and haven’t been remodeled for many years, but are more than adequate with bath and towel!! Private...

I’m sick and have to leave—help with Madrid Hotel?

I have stayed several times at the Marriott Auditorium very near the airport. It’s a large hotel for business conventions. English spoken. Food available. Shuttle bus to airport. There are certainly cheaper options though. It it will have everything you need. Hope you feel better.

Your Camino won’t end in Santiago. You will still be on it for a long time after your body returns home.🚶🏻‍♂️

    Gastric Reflux (GERD)

Alcohol is another big Gerd offender. Sadly

    Gastric Reflux (GERD)

Famotadina is by prescription only in Spain. Officially. I have had pharmacists give it to me anyway. If you try this you should say it’s your regular medicine you take at home. On the last couple of Caminos no one would give it to me, so I stopped asking for it.

Alamax (aluminum and magnesium) and Omeprazole. Could be others

Any Restaurant Recommendations in Muxia, Lires and Fisterra ++

In Fisterre, I have had some enjoyable meals with pilgrim friends at El Mirador. Fresh seafood cooked simply, not fancy. Old school, family run. Similar to Gato Negro in Santiago

7 days on the Frances - recommendations

Another vote for starting in Pamplona

    Must see or visit place.

The cathedrals in Burgos and Leon. The Royal Pantheon in Leon has beautiful frescoes on the ceiling which are sublime in their simplicity and beauty. Eunate church near Puente de la Reina. Don’t be disappointed if you find that walking the camino leaves you too tired to be a tourist ( there I...

First Camino Frances - Starting 2nd week Oct. Fall advice please!

Contacting lodgings in advance (WhatsApp text is a great way) is not so much necessary to reserve a room or bed as it is to check that they are actually open. No online resource is completely accurate. Wise Pilgrim often has updates reporting that a place may be closed for the season. You...

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way- Week 5

Your solution, as others have pointed out, will involve a taxi. The price might sting a little as along that route taxis are pretty expensive. I believe there are taxis based in Triacastela and they would collect your bag and bring it to your new stopping point. You need to be there to receive...

That one has to be the longest thread😂 !?

For me the key to tackling big hills is just to walk at a steady slow pace. Also I have stopped in La Faba and La Laguna to break up the climb.
