Questions about availability of facilities in November.

This post shows up under the Camino Frances heading.

Questions about availability of facilities in November.

Taxis should be available. Some have contracts to transport school children in rural areas so it is possible you may need to wait a bit depending on the time of day. You can usually ask at a bar or your lodging for a number to carry with you the next day in case of need.

Questions about availability of facilities in November.

Starting in November you can see which albergues are open on the aprinca website. https://www.aprinca.com/Subir/subidas/albergues.htm

Questions about availability of facilities in November.

Correos transport is Easter to Oct 31 except for Sarria to Santiago and Tui to Santiago. I am not aware of any other service that transports Nov to Easter timeframe.

Accommodation near the airport in Madrid?

Maybe conferences or some events? I notice prices fluctuate, too.

    Question..Donativo/Muni albergues OR Private lodgings?

I personally don't see it as suffering. Growing up we all shared one bathroom and my father snored so loud you could hear him no matter where you were in the house. We even had bunk beds for a while and so did my kids. I have also stayed is some pretty uncomfortable private rooms. It is all a...

LIVE from the Camino Héctor Walks His Way- Week 6

Last winter in the dark, two of my students and the other teacher in our group took a wrong turn coming out of Melide in that forest and walked an extra km and and another back. It was only after they had climbed over a fallen tree in the rain that they realized they were off course and back...

    First Time Concerns

I also recommend the Camino Frances. Given your time constraints, I would probably start in Logroño. If you have time at the end you can walk or take a bus to either Muxia or Finesterre. Private rooms will increase your costs so budget a bit more. Don't take for granted private rooms will be...

    Hostal Viky?

Where to get a Scallop Shell in Madrid?

You find one along the journey that will be more meaningful. My first shell broke, too. Since then I bought one (meaningless), had one gifted to me by the Anfas Albergue hospitalero in Estella ( the albergue that helps people with disabilities), and got a home-made tiny one in Arrés. The last...

    Camino Finisterre/ Muxia ( SabsP )

Sorry you hit all the busy fairs in Muxia and rallies in Finesterre. I love the quiet Muxia, but towns people deserve an opportunity to cut loose once in a while, I suppose. Glad you got to eat at some of your favorite places.

LIVE from the Camino Welcoming pilgrims at Arrés

AltoAragon is the local grocery store chain. There's are several locations in the area, but this is their warehouse type store. Cash only as I recall.

LIVE from the Camino Welcoming pilgrims at Arrés

Not Mercadona or Dia. I will see if I can send the location to you. We shopped there a few times. https://maps.app.goo.gl/LrnuaAfYw7m5pqp76 Hey, we just got word that we will volunteer in Grañón March 15 to 31! It's our favorite! Arrés is second though.

Forwarding a package ahead by a week (vs. daily or to Santiago)

Maybe make voice notes on your phone which you can compile when you get home?

Forwarding a package ahead by a week (vs. daily or to Santiago)

The small towns may not have these kind of services so probably need to choose larger towns. Also if you are starting in SJPDP, you will be in France and won't be able to ship to Spain until you reach a larger town in Spain. Just some things to keep in mind. You can ship the first day with...

LIVE from the Camino Welcoming pilgrims at Arrés

They do sell coop wine in Puenta de la Reina de Jaca at the small grocery. Otherwise, it is a trip to Jaca. We also bought it at the Warehouse grocery store in the big jugs.

    Tui/Ourense/Sarria???

Sarria to Santiago may be the only route that you could walk 10 km per day. There are plenty of state government albergues on this route of varying sizes called Xunta albergues with names like Albergue de Pergrinos and then followed by the name of the village or town. They don't take...

    Lost items tales

We usually lose at least one charger. I have also lost my towel. It was one of those awful camp towels that just smears the water around and never really dries you so I replaced it at an Asian store with a regular hand towel and was really much happier.
