TrailSmart: Camino de Santiago

TrailSmart: Camino de Santiago 2017-03-15

No permission to download
TrailSmart is a *free* comprehensive, incredibly handy mobile app providing in-depth coverage of some of our favourite long-distance trails, including the Camino de Santiago.

Coverage: We currently have coverage of the Francés, Portugués, Primitivo, and Finisterre, with more being worked on.

Works offline: Once offline maps are installed, TrailSmart works entirely offline - no data connection required at all.

In-depth reference content: The app's 'Trekopedia' includes details on communities, albergues (and other types of accommodation), attractions, services, points of interest, trail sections, etc.

Handy interactive tools: TrailSmart is all about 'peace of mind', convenience, and flexibility:
- Easy to use
- Highly customizable routes
- Interactive maps (including detailed offline maps)
- Directions and section-by-section guide
- Elevation profile charts
- Dynamic trip stats for your current section, stage, and route
- An intelligent compass with a yellow arrow that shows the right direction based on your current location and chosen route (the easiest compass ever!)
- Mark items as favourites, add notes, etc. Even add your own geo-located notes directly on the map.
- And more.

Great maps: Both online and offline maps can be used. Offline maps have handy 3D contours / shading that really helps you visualize the terrain you are walking through. Online maps are also available for when you do have an Internet connection, giving access to Google's satellite imagery and, where supported, even Google Street View.

Updated frequently: TrailSmart's Camino content is updated regularly based on community feedback and our own on-going research. Content updates can be done entirely from within TrailSmart, without needing to download the app again (handy when you are relying on the often poor WiFi in albergues).

Other trails: TrailSmart also includes support for some of our other favourite long-distance trails, such as the Cotswold Way (UK), Hadrian's Wall Path (UK), Great Ocean Walk (Australia), Lycian Way (Turkey), and the valleys & churches of Cappadocia (Turkey). Trail datasets can be easily swapped from within TrailSmart and new datasets can be downloaded (for free) from within the app. We're working on additional trail datasets. Got one you want us to add? Let us know!

Free and fully functional: TrailSmart has no advertising. We don't charge accommodation / F & B operators to be listed. There are no annoying gimmicks. In fact, there is no commercialization at all, other than there is a charge to download the optional offline maps (which are very large and we incur costs to create and deliver them). However, offline maps are entirely optional -- support for online maps is included for free.

A community project: TrailSmart is a community project created by fellow long-distance trail enthusiasts. It's something we are deeply passionate about -- it's our way to give back to the community that has helped us so much with our own planning and preparation. Our thanks to everyone that helped us with feedback, testing, research, and more.
