This is a book of recollections that happened 25 years ago. And after 25 years memories become hazy and capricious. I have done my best to be true to the truth.
I do not remember why I decided to walk the Camino. Looking back, the best I can come up with is that I literally had nothing better to do and my summer was looking pretty bleak. So on August 1st I was catching a train to Pamplona with two friends, on our way to the Pyrenees to start the Camino de Santiago. I guess you could also call it my honeymoon as I had got married six weeks prior and my newlywed wife met us halfway to Santiago.
On August 29th, exactly four weeks after our departure, the four of us walked into Santiago. In 1994, 15,863 pilgrims completed the pilgrimage and requested their Compostela. I was one of them.
