Kiwi on the Camino: A Walk that Changed My Life

Kiwi on the Camino: A Walk that Changed My Life

In 2014, I was emotionally bankrupt and physically exhausted. As a consequence, I decided to take an extended time-out from the responsibilities, demands and complexities of modern life, and with my husband, walked both the Camino de Santiago and the Camino Finisterre. The text includes historical, social, emotional and spiritual reflections as well as providing descriptions of the actual physical locations and journey. I write of my fears, anxieties, challenges, fun and friendships encountered along The Way. My meditations shine light upon my inner criticisms and gradually, with each step, I learned let go of self-judgment and became self-compassionate. My life is radically changed at the completion of this epic Walk for I came to the realization that I was no longer prepared to live a highly-stressful life. I think my journey speaks to the many people who are struggling to juggle the complex demands that a contemporary life requires.
