The Camino Pilgrim app is an easy-to-use and intuitive app to help you as you plan your pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago, particularly on the Camino Frances and the Camino Finisterre. It is also meant to be a guide to towns you will pass along the way, as well as point to places where you can sleep. Here is a link to the google play store listing: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.moemke.android.mycamino
While I was planning my Camino, I found it difficult to create a schedule to fit my needs, and had a difficult time to choose which town and lodging to spend the night in. I also had to change my original itinerary several times to make up for slow days, for example. I hope that this app will solve that problem. I also added maps to show where the localities and lodgings are and where you are in relation to them, plus a simplified route of the Camino to help show The Way.
A list of possible itineraries is provided from which you can create your own schedule, by clicking on the Generate Itinerary/Schedule icon. Once your schedule is generated, you may make changes to your daily stages by long-clicking on the stagelist items.
Each itinerary lists daily stages of your Camino, localities, and lodgings or albergues. Note that only pilgrim albergues are listed, and to sleep in most of these places, a pilgrim passport is required. Distances specified are approximate, so please do not depend entirely on these values when making your plan.
Clicking on the Map icon shows locations of localities or lodgings on a map. This will need an internet connection. If you do not wish to use this online feature, make sure your mobile data is off on your phone, as it may use up your bandwidth. If your gps is enabled, clicking the Show my Location icon will display where you are.
I developed this app after my own trip on the Camino de Santiago in 2013, and is based on information I gathered during the trip, and from different sources as of January 2014. This information may not always be up-to-date or correct so please just use this as a guide and double-check on directions and other information such as lodging listings.
I hope that this app helps you on your pilgrimage so that you may focus on your journey and reap the spiritual rewards. Remember to "Open your heart wider".
I would be very happy to hear from you. Any feedback and comments on how to improve this app are welcome and would be most helpful.
