Rome Jubilee 2025 (Peregrinantes In Spem)

Time of past OR future Camino
Us:Camino Frances, 2015 Me:Catalan/Aragonese, 2019
My morning YouTube fix presented me with a video titled Rome Jubilee 2025. It's not so great but I thought it could serve as an introduction to a forum thread about the topic where questions, answers and tips can be collected. I'm not expecting to be there but, hey, something you post may get me excited and Peg has wanted to visit Italy since university.

The farthest historic major starting points of the Via Romea in Iberia are Cádiz and Lisbon (via Burgos > Logroño ; and then either via Zaragoza > Girona > Perpignan ; or via a more northerly route resembling either the Francès or the Vasco Interior, then either via Toulouse and Arles etc, or via Lourdes and Carcassonne).

It's much shorter for me next year thankfully !! 😎

Rome has been prettying itself up in preparation for the Jubilee over the past few months. Almost all major fountains in the city are being cleaned and there are other works going on, in addition to the never-ending work on the third metro line that has turned Piazza Venezia into a construction site.

My personal opinion is that unless you're particularly drawn to Rome for religious reasons, it would be better to avoid 2025 and visit in 2026 instead. I love Rome to death, but in a way the timing of events that will take me out of Rome for all of 2025, only to return in early 2026, is perhaps fortuitous.

For anyone who is visiting Rome in 2025, our centrally-located apartment with a fabulous terrace is available for holiday rental on Airbnb. If you're interested, PM me for the link as to not derail the thread here.

I saw a photo this morning of the results of some recent restoration and cleanup work :

The Holy Door is opening on Tuesday.

I have no doubt that the first foot pilgrims of this incoming Jubilee Year will finish their Cammini on that day.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
