On Thursday 5/1st first I plan to arrive to SJPDP by around 15:00 hr, do I have time to walk to pilgrim credential office, and go buy hiking sticks before they close? I want to start walking to Refugio Orisson in the morning. Staying are Refugio address #51. Thanks

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Yes, you will definitely have time. The Pilgrim Office closes at 8pm on weekdays, and 10pm on weekends.

The Boutique du Pélerin is open until 7pm.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Do you already have a reservation there?

You don't need to get an early start to get to Orisson. I recommend spending the morning in SJPdP before heading up the hill. It's only about 5 (steep) miles, and there's no point in getting there super early. I would plan to take about twice as long as it usually takes you to walk 5 miles.

Fail to prepare? reduce your risk by buying this book full of practical info.
2nd ed.

Also reservations made for Roncesvalles, Zubiri and Pamplona?
If 5/1 means 1st of May (and not 5th of January as we in Europe would read it) be aware you start on one of the busiest days of the year ...

A great book to listen to while training for the Camino or to relive the experience!

Yes May 1st, forgot Spanish way.
Note that the Spanish calendar week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday.

I goofed once and made an un-cancelable train reservation based on the position of the day on the calendar rather than the date. Although it would have been cheaper to buy more tickets for the correct, earlier day I extended our stay by a day instead. Since this was extra day spent in Barcelona it was the better choice.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
