Good news for pilgrims passing through Ponte Maceira. The restaurant there has changed owners, and the new philosophy will be much more open to everyone.
In recent years it had become notorious for never being open, of for being open only to reservations.
Thankfully the new owners are taking it the other direction, which is welcome news. When I first passed through the village 20 years ago a few of us actually slept in the restaurant as a makeshift Albergue. The owner at that time even performed the most comical and memorable queimada I have ever seen.
