Not a Camino movie, but I enjoyed The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry last night. It is on our Amazon Prime account in the US. Maybe not for everyone, but we enjoyed it.

The main character goes on an impulsive walking pilgrimage across England to visit an old friend who is dying of cancer. He finds blisters and experiences the kindness of strangers as he works through some of his feelings regarding his son. Not the Camino, but a pilgrimage nonetheless.

I just realized I read the book 4-5 years ago. Good book will watch to see if the movie does the book justice. Thanks for sharing

My wife and I enjoyed "The Way" and it inspired us to plan to do the Camino when I retire. Unfortunately, she succumbed to a 16 yearlong fight with breast cancer before she could make it last year. (Of those 16 years most were in great physical shape). So next year in May I hope to enjoy a pilgrimage on the Frances, and a much-anticipated retirement, in the company of my wife. Not as we had hoped, but she will be accompanying me for the journey. Buen Camino

I’m going to watch it tonight. Thanks.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you for the movie suggestion. I just viewed the trailer, I know I'm going to need some tissues. Also, I want to thank you for another post you made last week about Ibex woolen leggings. I had never heard of them before. I ordered them and they're great.

Off the back of your post I have just watched it as well. Many Camino overtones. Oh my, what a wonderful film. Thank you for the recommendation.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
A great book - haven't seen the movie. If you like the first book, there is a second as well.

I'm glad you're doing what you both planned. Your wife will be with you every step of the Way and it's a beautiful way to celebrate your lives together. Buen Camino!

I liked the book, and my wife and I both enjoyed the movie several weeks ago. Definitely recommended!

.maybe soon...I am also waiting g for Bill Bennett's movie on home video in the US...
Yeah that’s another one I’m waiting for. Hopefully it’ll be on a streaming service or available for rent on YouTube soon. I suspect they’re trying to maximize the cinema distribution first. I don’t see it making it to a cinema in Vancouver unfortunately.

I listened to this as an audio book a number of years ago. I loved it and noted all the similarities to walking the Camino. A lovely book and seems they made it into a lovely movie.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I just finished the book today and am reading the next. Most modern Caminos probably never go this deep with physical, emotional, mental anguish, but it is possible that some pilgrims could. We've met a few.

Thank you. She was in very late stages of the disease and when she had a room full of oncologists, palliative care, and hospice care. She convinced the entire room of professionals that she was going to go home, heal up, and go hike the Camino. So? Yes, she will hike the Camino with me, and she did go home, so in the words of a song I used to enjoy as a younger man, "two out of three ain't bad"...

Perhaps she isn't going in the way we had hoped? But still... She will travel with me. 21 years together, add two for our years in high school with a 22-year separation for a total of 23 years, and I got the best years of my life ever... no regrets, no complaints.

Hey, two out of three is definitely the right side of the percentage ledger!

I lost a very dear friend of 50 years in February. Of course it is not the same loss as you suffered but all losses are significant to our hearts and souls. I spoke with Bill many times in the last two months. When I got my compostela the office made a notation on the bottom that was in Latin. The man who gave me my Compostela said it basically means I walked for Bill. Maybe it is something you will want to do to even bind you and your wife a little bit more closely in your camino experience. Buen Camino, my friend.

Does anyone know the name of the font used for the word “Galicia” on the kilometer markers?
