AlertCops = AlertCops 5.0 ?

I want to download the AlertCops APP on my phone ... but the only one that comes up is AlertCops 5.0. Is that the same thing? It only has a rating of 2 out of 5 stars ... and FYI, I live in Italy and attempting to download from Italy with my Italian SIM for what that's worth.

Mine is v 6.2.9; but doesn’t currently work.

I have version 6.2.9 which allowed me to set it up in the UK, but then kept on telling me I had no internet connection (at home).
But when I did the Primitivo in September it worked fine. I just tried it again (in the UK) and I get the no internet message again. Very strange.
Maybe its a location thing to avoid alerts outside of Spain, if so, Id expect a more sensible message on screen when denying a connection.

As to the original question, my Iphone app store also shows V5.0

AppStore for iPhone says V5.0 but when I scroll down it says Version History - 3w ago - Version 6.2.9

After downloading it, the app opens but soon gets stuck and says it needs an internet connection to work.

When using VPN with Madrid as connection point, the app opens and I see that it is version v.6.2.9 but the startup process soon stalls, eventually saying it needs an internet connection.

Conclusion: Must be some kind of geo-blocking ... the bane of our digital lives. 🥴

PS: Correction, when I use VPN with Madrid as connection point and switch off WiFi, this newest version of the AlertCop app works. Conclusion is still the same as before.

There have been reports of Alert Cops not working properly outside of Spain. If this happens to you, and you are outside Spain, try one of these suggestions:

1. If you have a VPN, set the VPN to emulate you being in Spain. Try to reconnect. That should do it, as the Alert Cops server will sense that the incoming connection request is from a device in Spain.

2. Wait until you are actually in Spain. You should have no problem connecting.

I have used idea #1 to test that the app worked on my device. I have used idea #2, when normally traveling to Spain. Once I land at Madrid, and my device connects, Alert Cops should work properly.

Note: the VPN hack also works to download apps from the Spanish App Store (Apple).

There was a thread last year about having trouble receiving the SMS text to activate the AlertCops app, even from within Spain.

Here's one of my posts from that thread and what I had to do to activate it on my phone:

I realized that I never returned to this thread to say how this problem was resolved for me.

I emailed them, and after some back and forth in which they asked me about my phone model, service provider, etc. they sent me these instructions.

Good morning, dear user.

We consulted with our service provider to verify where the problem may be occurring between sending and receiving the message and have opened an inquiry ticket.

Meanwhile, we will proceed to provide you with the validation code manually the next time you try to validate in the APP.

To get validated in the APP follow next steps:

1. Open the Alertcops application and it will ask you for validation as in previous occasions.

2. Once the code has been requested, and without closing the application, open the email and reply to this thread indicating that you have requested the new validation code.

3. We have a 24 hour service that will answer the email as soon as possible and will proceed to provide the code.

4. Once the code is received, go to the Alertcops application, is very important that the Alertcops App stay open, or the validation process while begin again.

5. Enter the provided code and the validation process will be completed.



I was able to successfully validate the app.
