Stage 10A vs. 10B on the Olvidado

Quick question about the stage from Guardo - Puente Almuhey:

There is an option 10A (por San Pedro de Cansoles) with 16.7km and an option 10B with 31.7km (por Velilla del Río Carrión).
In height it is pretty clear that 10A is flat, rising slowly from 1.000m up to 1.200m, while 10B looks definitely like a heavy day walk with a hill-walk from 1.000m to 1.600m and down again to 1.200m

Is 10B worth the pain - so to speak - of a tough day trip with close to 32km and the collada in the middle?
Is 10B worth the pain if it rains or if it is misty in the morning when the decision at start has to be made?

10B and actually all the mountain routes on the Olvidado were amazing. Rain would obviously make it more difficult but it personally would not stop me.

Does every guide/app have the same designation of stage numbers for the Olvidado?

I think that deciding on the day based on the weather is your best option.

Not sure about every but the 'official' site - Caminoolvidado.com - and Wise Pilgrim were both the same from memory. Certainly as far has the description of the stage was concerned, according to my planning notes.

My stage numbers come from Ender's Wikiloc Gps tracks (Enderjace) but I believe other Olvidado websites use the same numbers. B always designates mountain stages.

My question was also related to the rain thingy. There are mountain trails that are close to "don't care" if it raining cats and dogs, and some others become dangerous asf even in the mildest rain. That's particular my question for 10B.

As I am going the Olvidado backwards, the next stage is the 40km one from Guardo to Cervera de Pisuerga and I am a bit hesistant for such a long stage. Probably a 0 day in Cervera dP might be a good choice afterwards to rest the bones a bit.

I don't remember any dangerous spots but maybe someone else can chime in.

I walked the 40 km to Grado followed by the mountain stage but am used to consecutive long stages.

I do not think any part of route 10B was hazardous. However, I do think a GPS track for the route is essential. You can use Ender's Wikiloc Gps tracks (Enderjace)

Yep, downloaded already the GPX-files for Wikiloc and made myself getting used to Wikiloc premium and using the mobile for tracking.

Totally agree that the stage through Caminayo is beautiful and would not be especially dangerous in the rain. Fierce thunder and lightening would be somethig different, of course. Highly recommended in normal circumstances.

As far as Guardo to Cervera, there are several places to break this up— Bar Mylo in Santibañez de la Peña, and a casa rural in Tarilonte de la Peña I think.

One option would be to go (since as I understand it, you are going “backwards”) from Puente Almuhey to Guardo would be to go through Caminayo and then stop 6 kms before Guardo in Velilla del Rio Carrión where there is a pensión. Then continue the next day to Santibañez de la Peña or Tarilonte, and then the next day into Cervera.
