I got to meet Ivar! 🤪

3rd Edition. Vital content training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Meeting Ivar was one of my objectives when I returned to do the Camino Fisterra last week. He, his site, and his moderators provide such a valuable and professional service to us Pilgrims. Another suggestion is to stop down the street from Ivar and meet those who run the Pilgrim House. Great folks also.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

As various previously ritual acts in the cathedral have been forbidden in recent years, perhaps we could add ‘getting a selfie with Ivar’ to the list.

I also have met el queso grande, and he’s a perfectly decent chap. The new location next to the Pilgrim House (also a ‘must do’) is great.

So cool! My wife and I happened upon Casa Ivar as we were strolling through Santiago yesterday. We stopped in, but Ivar was not there. The young lady at the desk was a delight. 🙂❤️🙏

Ivar is generally not there in the afternoons, but I agree that Iria is a delight and very helpful. She told me that when she took the job that she didn't realize that we would be working for a celebrity!

I think I was completely overwhelmed, what between completing the Pilgrimage and meeting my wife in front of the Cathedral after being apart fir close to 6 weeks... I just totally blanked out on going to Casa Ivar (but next time FOR SURE!!!).
However re: "celebrity status" my wife told me that during her DUƁ--> SdC flight she overheard COUPLE of conversations and that's all the people were talking about Ivar Ivar Ivar

Lol. I passed by, saw him through the window, but was starstruck and too shy to go in.😂
Almost the same here - I had to go to the office to pick up a parcel he had kindly held for me - I knew who he was (obviously) but I couldn’t bring myself to say “I’m on the forum”!! He must see so many people…

I have 2 years before my next walk, plenty of time to work up the nerve!😆

Last July my daughter and I called in to Casar Ivar to pick up a parcel he was holding for us. He was not there but the lovely lady was a delight. The next day as we were passing, I looked in and Ivar was there so I went in and shook his hand and thanked him for all of the help that I have had from him and the forum over the years. When I came out I had a great feeling of satisfaction that I was able to do that. Thanks again Ivar.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
I too popped into Casa Ivar on my way back home after my duties as an Hospitalero in Rabanal. So thank you Ivar for our little chat , much appreciated

We always stop by to talk to Ivar after every Camino, provide a donation and talk to him about his old home when he lived in the US (not going to giveaway that info, but we live there). He's always a nice, charming man.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
