Looking for a place halfway between Padron and Santiago

Hi,

We are in Villa Nova D’Arosa and I wanted to stay in the Monastery tomorrow night, but my daughter does not want to. She wants to find a place halfway so we don’t have so far to walk to Santiago the next day.

Does anyone know a place halfway between Padron and Santiago? I prefer guest houses or I’d love to find a Monastery. Thank you!

A little bit more than half way is O Milladoiro. A great albergue, quite modern, and only about 6 - 8 kms to walk into Santiago in the morning.

about halfway, at Rua de Francos (Teo), there is a casa rural and restaurant w super food/chef (http://www.paradadefrancos.com). was there 6 years ago and still remember the food. rooms may be pricey now though

We were walking to Santiago on a hot day and decided to stop at O Milladoiro when we got there. That turned out to be a very good decision. We stayed in a modern, private albergue and had a short pleasant walk to Santiago the next morning - giving us the whole day in Santiago. If I do this route again, I will plan to do it this way.

I am staying at a hotel in Brion and then going on to Santiago.

In 2017 I had planned to stay there but pulled up just short.

An adequate albergue with a decent restaurant. I had a nice vegetarian meal that evening. It's easy to make the pilgrim's mass from either locations.

When we walked 2 years ago we also took the boat from Vilanova, and walked to O Lagar de Jesus, a ways past Padron. It was a lovely albergue with a wonderful communal meal.

Yes I did that a couple of weeks back. It’s only an hour or so north of Padron so may not be far enough for you and leaves a few hours walk next day.

It’s a lovely property with a swimming pool, a communal meal, some nice beer and wines, and a policy of offering lower bunks to over 50s!

Another great place to stay after Padron is Camiño da Vieira. It's a beautiful home, great host, and it means that you only have a 13km walk to Santiago on your last day. Highly recommended

An adequate albergue with a decent restaurant.

I would avoid this one at all costs. Rooms were not very clean. The bunk beds were rickety, creaked, and hard to climb, only one plug to charge in the room and it was not near the beds. All this would have been tolerable, except add in the BED BUGS. My husband got badly bitten. I WhatsApped them about that, but got no response, then someone posted about 2 weeks later that they'd been bitten too.

The other nice thing about O Milladoiro is that you walk through a park as you leave the town, and as you exit the park you get your first glimpse of the spires of the Cathedral. It gives you (or at least, gave me) a bit of extra energy and excitement actually being able to see SdC off in the distance setting out that final day.

Totally agree
I stayed here on 2 Caminos. The orange juicer and espresso maker seal the deal. It is perfect and for early risers seeking Compostela, the short walk can beat the crowds to the pilgrim office.
