Has anyone successfully changed a Renfe Elige type ticket online? We got elige tickets and are trying to change trains to a different time but it seems to just ask us to buy the tickets again and we are unsure if the original fare would be refunded.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Are you sure they are asking you to buy new tickets? Or are they just showing how much you need to pay because there is a price difference between the tickets you bought and the new ones?

I've never done it, I'm just trying to troubleshoot

Yes, it’s asking us to pay the difference AND the cost of the new tickets. This may be ok if the original purchase amount is refunded, it’s just unclear if that will happen.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Renfe have a 24hr helpline in English if your Spanish isn’t up to it. Bearing in mind that RENFE would beat the IRS hands-down on bureaucracy most Spaniards wouldn’t think they were up to it.

Oof. That sounds about right!
And thank you.

Did you purchase a ticket where changes were allowed? Earlier this year, I paid a 5 euro surcharge for tickets that could be canceled. There was a different surcharge option for changing tickets. In the end I had to cancel the tickets due to a family emergency. I received a full refund online, and eventually rebooked the tickets a few weeks later.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
