Backpack transfer process?

Hi
I am starting my camino on 16th Sept at St Jean Pied de Port to Santiego. I have recently had an ankle injury which seems kinda fine atm. But I am considering using Rucksack transfeer on some stages but not all. Is this possible?
I have had a look at the above link https://www.elcaminoconcorreos.com/en/rucksack-transfer but it only seems to cover the final section from Sarria

That is only after November 1st. Until then Correos offers backpack transfer on the Camino Francés from Roncesvalles on. You can use Express Bourricot for the portion in France

I dont know if you are able to help unless you have used this service but...
So just checking the site. As an example if I wanted to get by rucksack picked up at Roncesvalles, my accompdation ( Alberge de Pelegrinos) is not listed as apick up point. Do I pick the nearest one listed (eg Casa Sabina) and leave it there?? What time will i get picked up and what time will it arrive? The site deosnt seem to mak ethat clear??

Some albergues don't want to participate in bag transfer services and that is their choice.

If you are planning to stay somewhere that isn't listed as either a pickup or dropoff place then contact the bag transfer agency and ask them for advice.

They don't say because it varies. In general the bags will always be picked up after you have left the albergue and unless you are walking down the street to the next albergue they will be delivered before you arrive at the next albergue.

Generally the bags need to be in reception labeled by 8am for collection, with the envelope attached with euros inside.
I phone or Whatsapp the night before to let them know there is something to collect, or the albergue staff may offer to do it for you. When I stayed somewhere they didn't collect from, the delivery company told me where to leave it. Bag always arrived by 2.30pm. It is possible to arrive before your bag.

I used Jacotrans not Correos, the envelopes are in receptions everywhere.
A number of the Donativos wont take either bookings or bag transfer. But most private places will.
I cant comment on winter hours as Ive always walked between March and the end of October.

I would check with the Albergue regarding luggage transfer -- most albergues, if they do luggage transfers, will be able to advise you as to who to use. Or you can email Correos and ask -- I've done this before and they are very helpful; as you might expect, there are a large number of places to stay and not all of them are necessarily listed on the drop down menus, just the most popular.

If worse comes to worse, and there's a day when you are staying someplace that doesn't accept transfers and your injury really prevents you from walking with your pack, you can contact a local taxi company. While definitely more expensive, because the distances between most stages aren't that far, many taxi drivers will make the transfer for you.

What you definitely should not assume is that you can have a bag picked up or dropped off somewhere you are not staying.

Not always! There was more than one occasion that I arrived at an albergue and checked in and showered and the Bag Transferers will still waiting for their bags to turn up. Of course they always arrived - and I did not object to getting the shower first.

I certainly agree with your interpretation.
At the same time, the exceptions were common enough to almost be a rule! I spent ten weeks on the Camino earlier this year and encountered usually-grumbling Bag-Waiters every couple of days.
I mentioned it because other readers may prefer to carry their bags to ensure they don’t have to wait.
