Accommodation on Camino Ingles from Ferrol

I am starting Camino ingles from Ferrol on. September 3 and I wondered if I could rely on municipal albergues to have space. Is it risky to do that ?

Not if you start walking early and arrive by opening time. You have picked peak Camino time but, if you’re lucky you should be fine.

I’m not starting till late September and I’ve pre-booked all my accommodations but that’s because I can and because I don’t want to inflict my nocturnal ramblings on anyone I’m not directly related to

Bruma, assuming you stay there, is a potential red flag. It's a pinch point and popular stop as walkers from Ferrol and A Coruna converge there. It's a tiny village with one municipal albergue, one private albergue and one tiny private hostal.

Agree on this, just off the Camino is the hotel Caniama [sp], cost is higher but included a full breakfast. I met a lot of pilgrims there in the bar/restaurant. The owner picked me up at the municipal albergue. Easy walk back in the morning. May be an option. Please confirm, my info is from 2019.

This too can full very quickly. Multiple occasions last year where absolutely everything in and immediately around Bruma were completely full. And the numbers on the Inglés this year are higher than they were last year. To my personal knowledge there were at least three occasions last year where the line outside the public Albergue exceeded capacity by midday. (They open at 13.00) Anecdotal evidence ( reports on here for instance) suggest that there were many more such occasions.

It's far more satisfying to walk without booking. Generally there are options, Bruma however sometimes has far less beds than pilgrims, and it seems a shame to have to get up really early and rush, thence not enjoying the stage.
You could try to book the private albergue there although it's probably too late by now. (However you never know your luck) As reported the hotel is more expensive but nice. There's also a couple of pensions, just look them up on Gronze.

Either book, stage around Bruma, take a risk but be prepared to walk an extra 10 km, or be ready to get a taxi to and from accommodation elsewhere.

From Bruma I walked on that extra 10k to hotel Barreiro ( about 2km off the path) which was a good truck stop motel/bar place. There were others there but they must have taxied to and back to Bruma next morning because I was now ahead of them with a shorter day to do.
