Hi everyone!

Nice to meet you all! Very excited to plan my trip

First question coming in my head; I would like to do el Camino Via de la Plata starting from Sevilla to Santiago the compostel! My question is: Is it possible to do the trail in the other way from Santiago the compostel to Sevilla? Would really love to spend some time in the south of Spain after this beautiful walks! Please let me know!

Possible? Of course - you are free to walk more or less where you like. A couple of practical issues though. Signposting is only in one direction - towards Santiago. Which makes navigation heading south a little more difficult. The other is that some albergues may not accept pilgrims heading south away from Santiago though that may be less of a problem if you have just walked to Santiago and are making the return journey along the same route.

It is entirely possible to reverse the route and walk from Santiago to Sevilla. There are a few issues: none insurmountable.

Progress in that direction would not be generally considered a pilgrimage, although any route that took me to the Bodega Santa Cruz in Sevilla would be one in my opinion. It would not, however, qualify for a Compostela if that is important to you.

You may have difficulty in staying in some pilgrim-specific accommodation as you’re not fulfilling the basic objective of walking towards Santiago.

The way marking generally doesn’t anticipate the reverse path.

Have you read much about the underlying intent of Camino or do you just fancy a nice walk? Nothing wrong with that, but there might be more suitable fora elsewhere.

Whenever I get around to walking the Via de la Plata I will do my Southern Spain tourist stuff before my Camino. And, I will start in March or April to (hopefullly) avoid the heat of Southern Spain.

Since I enjoy the camaraderie of the Camino I'm not interested in walking the opposite direction of everyone else.

Yeahhh! I get it! After some replies about that, I decided to do the Camino in the right way haha and than take a train to the south to relax hehe!

End of september and beginning of October! Any tips for renting my accommodations in advance (I would prefer that 100%)

I've walked the Via de la Plata twice using information from Gronze (https://www.gronze.com/via-plata) and the excellent guide by @geraldkelly (https://www.viadelaplataguide.net/). Between them you should have enough information to find and book accommodation along the way.

Thats the Spirit!
I mean if you Would really love to spend some time in the south of Spain after this beautiful walk - well... do the walk and catch a train/bus/plain/auto to wherever your heart desires. Perhaps a more gentle re-entry into a 'real' world than just go straight home (THAT could be a culture shock I tell ya! )

Bradypusbis right. I’m planning my walk for next year on the VdlP and did consider doing it back to front but my Spanish friend who has walked it twice said it’s virtually impossible due to the nature of the sign posts. He said it’s nothing like the Camino Frances where there are loads of shells and arrows and I’ve walked it five times and never got lost but the VdlP is completely different. Sometimes the trail is not clearly signposted and walking in the early dark morning is impossible so I changed my mind and am walking from Seville. Good luck.

That’s a lot of nights to book in advance! 37 bookings (at normal stages) that you have to make every night! Whether your tired or sick or find somewhere you want to check out or friends to hang out with…

Still, I would probably only book the first couple of nights ahead and play it be ear once I'm on the ground.

OK, that makes a little more sense for booking.
But your first post says you’re planning to start in Sevilla, hence my confusion.

But I am with @trecile. Its not that busy a Camino, you can relax with the bookings. But it’s good to have a plan, either way have a wonderful Camino.

Well that’s a major shift from your first posts. You were asking about the route from Seville and then from Santiago to Seville.

Book at least your first night’s accommodation if only for comfort. Much then depends on your budget, accommodation requirements, daily mileage and many other factors that you haven’t mentioned yet

Seven days gives you plenty of slack.

Haha! It stressed me out not booking my nights ahead but I guess I’ll be more chill and go with the flow while walking hours a day
