I'm arriving in Pamplona via train at 12:48pm on Sat 3 Aug, and am planning to catch a taxi to St Jean Pied de Port for 155 euros. Would anyone be interested in joining me and splitting the cost?

Hi, just checking that you know there are buses and trains, right?
There's a direct ALSA bus from Pamplona to St Jean on Saturday 3rd August at 12 midday. It takes 1 hour 45 mins. The alsa.es website is easy to use.
Since you arrive at 12.48, there are trains in the afternoon from Pamplona to San Sebastian, after which a Flixbus will take you to Bayonne (then a train to St Jean).
Check out the Flixbus.fr website (also for buses from Pamplona to Bayonne).

Or just spend the night in Pamplona and get the direct bus. Much cheaper than a taxi.

I know I will make myself ( even more ) unpopular here but the Collado de Lepoeder and the etapa from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port is just a mountain ( or a big hill depending what you are used to ).

I never saw the appeal of making the extra effort to take train, bus, taxi to get via Pamplona and Roncesvalles to Saint-Jean.

The walk up to O Cebreiro is not to miss. Another mountain/ hill!
