I've been looking at the best transfer service for the Portuguese. When I look at the site it appears they want me to sign up for the entire trip, which seems to differ from the Francis where we decided on a day to day basis. Can someone provide some insight.

Also, I sent several questions to Tuitrans, who failed to respond. (like what their charge is). What is the best rated transfer service for this route? Top Santiago?

Any input is appreciated.

Just as a followup, I used TaXiCamino on the Primitivo all the way to...Boente, I think. They did one internal handoff after Lugo. Then they handed me off successfully to Javier Manuel, who used Jacotrans envelopes.

Can't say enough good things about TaXiCamino. Exceptionally responsive on WhatsApp, even with my bad Spanish. I would usually contact them between 1600-1800 for the next day, and they'd get back to me within 10 minutes.

Gerald Kelly’s guide to the Via de la Plata -
http://www.viadelaplataguide.net/ has a FAQ section which gives the following information for a new service on the Sanabrés :

“In 2023 a private company began offering a luggage transfer service on the Camino Sanabrés (from Granja de Moreruela to Santiago). Prices vary depending on distances. They can be contacted at servicioscaminosanabres@gmail.com or call or WhatsApp +34 674 56 98 70.”

I have contacted them by email - they replied immediately - they need a precise itinerary including dates and places of accommodation before giving me an idea of price. The service commences from Salamanca.

If anyone else has used them I would be interested to hear how it worked for them.

On the Salvador there are a couple of taxi services that service the route. They are not cheap but reasonable - pretty much standard taxi rates. Great service.

Yes. You can use Correos, the Spanish post office to send the bag either to be held at the post office or to Casa Ivar.

I can’t answer the first question.

Correos deliver to every address in Spain. Are you looking at a specialised service like pac mochila? If you’re sending to Ivar by correos you’re using their conventional package delivery service as in @trecile s link above.

Yes, I was referring to Pac Mochila.

When you send a parcel or bag to Casa Ivar it goes through the regular mail service, not via their Mochila transport service. So you follow @ivar's instructions here:

I am talking to Pilbeo. I gave them the places that I will stay each day and they made a plan to accommodate my plan and transfer the luggage from one place to the other. This is my first Camino, Anyone with experience using them ?. They seem to be responsive and very reasonable price wise

Just call or email them to let them know of your schedule change. You have until 8 pm each night to let them know where to pick up and deliver your bag.

You will probably need to contact the companies directly to find out which ones cover the Camino Francés before Sarria. I know that Correos does not after October 31st.

I don’t know if - and I doubt - there is coverage other than that. There simply are not enough holidaymakers, and those that are prepared to walk through winter seem more inclined to carry their bags. That’s a self-fulfilling prophecy if there is no choice, I suppose.

I’ve emailed a couple of the companies. We had hoped not to carry our bags this Camino because my husband just had surgery. Perhaps we will have to reschedule.

Update: Jacotrans is going to transport our bag all the way to Santiago. Some of it will be off season rates but it is worth it not to have to worry about my husband carrying a bag this soon after surgery. If he feels like he can we can always cancel any part we don’t need.

I don't use bag transport yet, but I'll "never say never"...anything unexpected can happen.
