Time of past OR future Camino
September 6, 2024
Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and learning how to navigate my way around and am enjoying reading many of the threads. I plan on starting from SJPP on Sept 6 and can't wait to get started! I have reservations in SJPP and will have reservations in Roncesvalles but then I was not planning on making reservations. Given how many people seem to be on the Camino Frances this year, would it be best (or necessary) to call ahead each evening once I know where I will stop the next day? Thank you for your advice!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Definitely book at least Zubiri (or nearby) as there aren't many places and the next Albergue that doesn't take bookings (and therefore more likely to have a bed available on the day) is Zabaldika, 12km away

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Yes, if you want certainty and peace of mind and yes, if it’s your first time. September is generally busy, and some places/stops can get especially busy, such as Pamplona, Burgos and Leon. Many hosts now use WhatsApp so I found it quite easy to book ahead, September 2023. You’ll have greater flexibility if you’re prepared to book hotels instead of Albergues or if you’re prepared to walk further when necessary. I usually book one day ahead. Buen Camino!
