Thoughts on attending mass at Santiago Cathedral

I have just attended, online, the midday transmission of mass. The botafumeiro did not swing, but that was not my goal to see.
I often go in to the 07.30 transmission, but life took me to the midday one today. A bundle of priests and monaguillos, plus a lovely youth choir. There was also a prayer offered by a representative of a group of parents who had walked from Ferrol - maybe? But the point was to emphasise the reason for the season, to use an old fashioned label. To emphasise that the camino is about pilgrimage, and connection with Saint James, and blessing, and faith and back to pilgrimage. Not for the non pilgrims.
Let me say though - anyone who is even slightly caught by a whisper of what in the heck is all this about - follow the whisper! Let it reach deep inside. Buen camino.

My best experiences in Westminster Abbey/Canterbury Cathedral, etc. have been evensong and services. Always a nice (often cool due to the architecture) time to reflect.
