Lisbon recommendations for the first night stay.

I arrive into Lisbon on the morning of the march 17th of this year, and am looking for recommendations for where to stay.
Will start walking on the morning of the 18th.

We stayed at the Largo da Sé Guest House for two nights last April prior to starting our Camino. Good location down from the Cathedral and reasonable cost.

Pensao da Prata is in the Baixa, a few minutes walk up to the Cathedral where you will find the first arrow. It is a family run, down home, simple type place. And across the street is the Cervejaria Paço Real, which has home cooked food, good pasteis da nata, and a beautiful stamp for pilgrims!

Another vote for Largo da Se. Nice place right near the cathedral and they let me keep a bag there.

I stayed in a place on Rua dos Fanqueiros for three nights. That covered the night I arrived, the day after doing some sight-seeing, and I then returned on the train from Povoa after walking through Alpiarte on my first walking day. I then returned to Povoa after doing some chores in Lisbon that I couldn't do on the previous two days (a Sunday, and then a public holiday).

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Justa. It's on a pedestrian street with an easy walk to restaurants and down to the waterfront. Wonderful breakfast and they have a restaurant as well.

I, too, stayed at Largo da Sé, but can't recommend it! Although I prearranged a time to drop off my backpack, I found the door locked and waited for 1.5 hours before staff arrived. My room looked nice and clean, but around 1 a.m., I awoke with 15 bedbug bites, sighted 3 of the creatures in the sheets, and spent the rest of the night in a chair (no staff on the premises, so no chance of changing rooms). The booking included breakfast, but in the morning there was no breakfast and, again, no staff. Even without these inconveniences/miseries, the nearby trams and the people shouting in the public square across the street were noisy until the wee hours. I stayed there in late September 2022, and perhaps it has changed hands and improved since then. I hope so!

Depends on your arrival time and what you need to do before you leave… I flew in from Australia, if you arrive earlish in the morning, stay in Sacavém, train into Lisbon, go to the cathederal for a stamp and walk back… the next day (depending where you walk to) is a little shorter. I added in another night and did a day in Lisbon and walked the 15 ish km back to Sacavém to set off the next day… after 30 odd hours in transit, I thought a second night was worth it! I booked Real Home on on of the accom sites, small supermarket across the road, restaurants, 7 min from the train station. Enjoy!
