Hi all, I wonder if anyone knows of any list of places to stay along the French way that offer Vegetarian meals ? I know at times it’s hard to expect the option to be available every small place, but I’m hopeful some wonderful person on here might have created a list. This way I can try and keep an eye out to stay at places that meet that requirement when ever I can.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
A project/website called Heart of the Camino used to maintain a list of vegetarian restaurants on the Camino Francés. The website is defunct now but we have a copy of the list. It's about five years old now and so it's a bit out of date, but here it is anyway:

The Vegetarian Way

As for vegetarian stays, it's been a while since I walked the Camino Francés but the two that I know of are Albergue Verde in Hospital de Órbigo and Albergue Ecológico El Beso, which is just past Triacastela on the non-Samos way.

¡Buen camino and buen provecho!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I don’t have a list either but in SJPdP a popular place to stay is

Gîte d'étape Beilari-

Almost opposite the pilgrim office - it serves vegetarian meals.

.

Plus: Looking on google I’ve found a site called Follow the Camino ; that lists Vegan food . May help ? I’ve not used this site myself tho. Buen camino

There is a FB group 'Vegetarians and Vegans on the Camino' you could join.

Also Nomadic Vegan

I am vegan and walked the Frances in 2018. No problems. I self catered in the albergues mostly due to finances but could always eat out if I chose. The towns and cities are easier but the small villages less so, but I always carried snacks with me so never went hungry.

Thanks I’ve completed my second Camino. Once again it was difficult as food is. what you can get where you are at the time. my first Camino it was near impossible to find veg options, second a little better- hopefully in time for others it will have more options. You get what you get on the Camino and it seems sometimes it’s just hit up a small town supermarket if you can. As for booking places that offer these option, it’s great if you can get a booking. I suppose this is what Camino taught me again, be resilient and resourceful (and at times hungry hahaha)

Super helpful resource. Thank you!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hi 😊 I walked the Camino Frances in 2018 on a budget. I am vegan and never went hungry. I opted to mostly make my own dinners due to money and also not always wanting to sit at a table with others at a set time. I usually ate earlier and often wanted quiet 😊 When I did eat in albergues, the hospitaleros were very accommodating and I ate well. Vegetarian options were available. I never booked in advance but if you did, you could check before confirming your booking?

There is a Facebook group which was handy, before after and during, https://www.facebook.com/groups/202518663576649/?ref=share

And the Happy Cow free app was invaluable for shops and places offering vegan options.

Hope this helps a little. Burn Camino. 😊
