    Off road caminos

You may walk from Villafranca to O'Cebreiro via Ruta Dragonte. Most people would get off that and continue on CF Las Herrerias. Alternatively, you may walk from Villafranca via Paradela to the outskirts of Trabadelo. After O'Cebreiro, you're stuck on asphalt most of the time.

    Getting from Biarritz/Bordeaux to SJPP

Sorry, you're right, Kathar1na. Didn't read it properly. So, option 2 gotta be the preferable one.

    Getting from Biarritz/Bordeaux to SJPP

Of the two options mentioned, the first one, in my opinion seems preferable. Stansted is a terrible airport to stay at for a longer time. You could choose a hotel, of course. BUT why not take a direct flight from Stansted to Biarritz. If you don't have any objections against Ryan. And don't take...

Your Opinion on how I will start

Well, if you're not that fit, you will without any doubt think, when you reach Orisson those first five miles will be enough. Or you could walk one km further to Borda. But believe me, it's up the mountain to Borda as soon as you get out of St-Jean-Pied-de-Port. And if it's a hot day, I...

    Albergue in Villatuerta

I've heard, that Casa Magica was closed, too, and that it had been empty for some time. But I've also heard, that it had new owners. But it was closed, when I visited it in April, but it may have been due to siesta. Anyway, if you go to booking.com, they accept bookings for Casa Magica in...

    Albergue parrquial de Zabaldika

Please, can anyone tell me, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart still are at Zabaldika. I've noticed, when you look up the albergue on alberguescaminosantiago.com, it's said that volunteers are from Federación de Asociaciones de Amigos del Camino de Santiago.

    Concrete ruin just before Irotz

I remember reading somewhere about the former use of that concrete building just before Irotz. Really, it doesn't seem to be anything but a ruin. I just wondered, who's responsible of building the site, and what it has been used for. maps.google mentions, it's 'antigua fábrica ruinas'. Anybody...

Route variations between Alto de Erro and Zubiri

Sorry once again. I see, the reference was to your former mail. The route doesn't go through Akoretta, but it does pass HOTEL Akorreta,

Route variations between Alto de Erro and Zubiri

Thanks for your replies. All of you. You're right. Somehow, I did get the hotel Akerreta and the village of the same name all mixed up and would have the hotel placed in the village. Now, I know ... thanks.

Route variations between Alto de Erro and Zubiri

I walked the Frances in April and May, and followed the signs. I did get to Akorreta and noticed the hotel, where Tom in The Way had his first night. But come to think of it, I didn't walk that way on my first Frances four years ago. And checking maps.google, I notice the Camino de Santiago...

Women be aware of Miguel at San Nicolas de Puente Fitero

There are no monks at San Nicolas. They're volunteers from the Italian Confraternity of Saint James in Perugia.

Women be aware of Miguel at San Nicolas de Puente Fitero

Are you sure, this is the same albergue, because due to no heating system and no elektricity as well, they're usually not open 'till June 1st.

Women be aware of Miguel at San Nicolas de Puente Fitero

I'm very sorry to hear about this as it's not the kind of behaviour, that makes pilgrims feeling safe on the camino. And I do hope, that this accident won't spoil the rest of your Camino. And om top of that, it makes me feel sad, because when I walked my first Camino Frances, this place was the...
