Xunta municipal albergues cameras do not work (another stolen phone incident)

I haven't once said I wanted cameras in the bedrooms, or indeed areas like hallways outside the shower where people might be semi undressed. I do not want this!. Why do people keep saying this when I never said it? I am asking for cameras at the entry/exit points of the albergue.

Xunta municipal albergues cameras do not work (another stolen phone incident)

I don't think you miss the central point I'm trying to make.- There is CCTV in the building, it just doesn't work because the Xunta cancelled the contract with the security company. I made this thread partly as a PSA This has happened twice in two albergues where thefts have happened, cameras...

Xunta municipal albergues cameras do not work (another stolen phone incident)

I don't consider that rude enough to warrant a deletion, but it's not helpful. I think the isssue though is an albergue having lots of cameras,- giving a sense of security, when they are not working. And really the Xunta should either make it known they don't work or take them down, or pay to...

Xunta municipal albergues cameras do not work (another stolen phone incident)

I never proposed such a thing, just cameras at reception and in places like where entry/exit points to the albergue are. I don't know why people are saying im proposing cameras in the bedroom....im not.

Xunta municipal albergues cameras do not work (another stolen phone incident)

I understand this forum isn't the place to report every crime, I'm not just making a crime report, but to tell people the Xunta de Galicia albergues do not have working cameras After my unfortunate experience in Fisterra I did a few more caminos and wound up in Santiago again, stayed in the...

Theft on the Camino... a growing Concern?

Just to note here, and you noted yourself, not everyone knows about this forum. And that's really being generous, I'd imagine probably 95% of people walking the camino don't know about this forum. I never knew about this place until I was informed about it. Also regarding my incident in...

My phone was stolen from me in Fisterra by a man with a knife

Ok, I understand that perspective. I just think it's better to prevent something happening than dealing with the fallout afterwards. Also I guess it's place dependent, if you are in a camino in a small village I guess you are safer, but in somewhere like one of the larger towns/cities with more...

My phone was stolen from me in Fisterra by a man with a knife

I think they will be ok with the usual precautions, also don't stay out too late at night. Just make sure your albergue has adequate security and hide your valuables even in bed.

My phone was stolen from me in Fisterra by a man with a knife

Sorry to get back late, Just wanted to add here, you can get a camera system on Amazon for less than 50 euros, it's not an insane investment in return for providing security. Doorcode entry system not much more (I've checked). If the cameras was working there would probably be 100% chance the...

My phone was stolen from me in Fisterra by a man with a knife

yes that's very sad, first time I walked the Camino the Guardia Civil had a checkpoint in the middle of nowhere and would not let anyone pass on the Camino without giving their ID/passport. They were probably looking for someone. In the UK we don't have national ID and the police can't stop you...

My phone was stolen from me in Fisterra by a man with a knife

no banking apps, just some messenger apps accounts which I may be able to recover, not sure if I even have the login for the google account (need to get the sim replaced I guess) , plus all the photos/videos etc, including of my relative. I didn't have cloud backups but I think I backed up a few...

My phone was stolen from me in Fisterra by a man with a knife

thank you, I'd say as a minimum is for an albergue have visible cameras (and signs notifying potential thieves) and a door keycode system. Also information in several languages about being careful about possessions being stolen. The albergue I stayed in had none of this. I had a lucky escape...

My phone was stolen from me in Fisterra by a man with a knife

My phone was stolen by a man with a knife in an albergue in Fisterra, about 4 weeks ago, from my bed while I was sleeping. I saw the thread discussing it here that was subsequently closed. on advice of a friend back home I made a post on the Reddit subreddit for the Camino, as I did not know...
