Another dawn start, another perfect crisp clear autumn day. Many of the villages between the Duero and the Tormes are surnamed "del vino", but are now mostly cereal. I think for the first time since leaving the Mediterranean, there are no sierras...

Saw plenty of sunflower fields outside of Burgos this September. Does anyone know the purpose of the sunflower fields? I saw some that were dried out in the fields and not yet harvested. Is it a rotation ceop?

I just had my 90th b'day and I'm planning to do the Camino May 2025, if I'm still in good health. I walk a couple of miles every day in the hills and go to the gym, so if I take it easy on the Camino I think I can do it. I'm looking forward to...

How close to the 90 days are you? How tight is your schedule? Could a few days in UK using a cheap flight get you out of Schegan/EU ?- it doesn't reset the clock to zero but simply doesn't count in the 90 days

If you’ve no plans to revisit the countries of the Schengen zone after that trip you’ll be fine. Otherwise the “overstayed” stamp in your passport might cause problems on your next visit.

For the curious: An upper respiratory infection or inflammation affects your sinuses, throat, and maybe about as far down as your trachea ( cough). . Typical cold symptoms. Of note, gentle exercise is encouraged. It does not affect your...

It’s St. Michael the archangel. He is often portrayed with a scale as he weighs the souls ( thumbs up heaven… thumbs down …. You’ll need a fan) this representation is often shown close to the Virgin Mary as she shows mercy . In the Hail Mary the...

Yep, Saint Michael, dressed as a knight, with wings and with his scales for weighing souls. An omnipresent motif along the way to Santiago and pretty much elsewhere in medieval Europe. The archangel Michael is often included in Last Judgment...

The mysterious tower is at (42.3108327, -4.0686831) In my overstimulated imagination, it was attached to a rural residence, and the little porthole near the top enabled the country folk who lived there to sit inside and keep an eye on the doings...
