what Camera option are people using

I didn't carry a wallet. I had a bank card stashed away in my ruck-sack for cash points. Other than that everything was done via my phone. My phone and passport stayed in my back-pack for showers etc, or sometime the phone would be left charging. Only once did I ever feel the need to take these...

    Camino sunrises

They are the best sunrises in the world right? On the alternative to Villafranca del Bierzo.
  3. The three musketeers

    The three musketeers

Somewhere, in some cafe in Ponferrada, 3 souls scuttling their way towards Santiago take a coffee break.

    Zubiri hazardous path

Certainly, in September last year, it was no problem - if you took care. It's certainly not everyone's favourite decent and is often singled out. I hope they don't do anything stupid with it like put in an escalator or something because it is part of the Camino, and as @mspath has helpfully...

San Anton albergue (Castrojeriz) closes till further notice

It does make you wonder though how it is suddenly safe again!

    Recovering, step by step

Wishing your recovery continues to proceed at such a great rate @Peterexpatkiwi. It is of course all about these little milestones and above all humility towards ones self.

Help with accommodation on Camino Francés

From all of the posts on this recently, for me, it's best to assume an Albergue is only truly full if; a) you turn up and they tell you it's full b) you contact them directly via phone/whatsapp and they tell you it's full It seems booking.con is causing much panic and even worse meaning these...

San Anton albergue (Castrojeriz) closes till further notice

Open as an Albergue - or just drinks/snacks and grounds?

Drinking water from the Fountains/Fuentes on Primitivo

Sorry to hear you got ill, but glad you still managed to walk. Giardia can also be spread person to person and caught from contaminated surfaces, so it might not have been from the water for sure?

    Be careful with phones.

You could also have most of those things in a wallet which is just as easily stolen though I guess. But I would certainly be in a bit of a pickle without my phone nowadays. I hope your friend manages to get everything sorted out as that's a horrible thing to happen. Barcelona is pick pocket...

    Pork in Spain

Yes, but it's very rare to see them, albeit in some cities where there are no predators as mentioned above they are more numerous. Disease, hunting and natural predators (that haven't already been shot by the hunters) keeps the numbers low in other areas. Further South they are actively...

    Jubilee Year of Hope 2025

So the expectation will be for 2025 to be busier than normal (whatever normal is)? Do these things affect the whole routes, or generally the last say 100K type issues?

    Pork in Spain

Rabbit if cooked correctly is a very nice meat. You will often get this on the menu in Spain especially in the Pyrenees (not so much on the Camino I don't think), but a lot of the time it is farmed rabbit (edit - wild rabbit is nice farmed is not - very bland). Another example of human craziness...

    Pork in Spain

What a shame, but venison is definitely more popular now. It's probably another irony that the venison is coming from farmed animals whilst the wild venison is sent to landfill. Surely it could be used for dog food at the very least. . .

    Hire car caution

I haven't hired a car since pre-covid, but even then the fuel situation was always a bit of a pain. Often you might not use a full tank so of course wouldn't want to pay for a full tank upfront, but the pain of having to find somewhere to fill it up near to drop off was often a hassle. Add to...
