Hey there! I'm ashley.
Like my story says: I'm a midwestern girl who feels most at home in the mountains. I spent 10 fulfilling years in the classroom teaching high school social studies. And then, I left to pursue other dreams. A one year sabbatical turned into 2 years of travel to 16 countries on a mission to soak up the culture and figure out how to make my bed and breakfast dreams come true. I eventually settled on the Camino de Santiago, Spain as a place to make that happen. I've begun my search for property and hope to open my albergue sometime in 2016. You can be sure that "everyone has a story" will be a major theme of the albergue!
So the plan is to live 6 months of the year in Spain, spend the holidays with my family in Illinois and then head to Colorado for the winter months to get my ski fix and spend time with the incredible community I have found there. If all goes according to plan, I'll be living in a tiny house by 2017! Check out the tiny house journey at atiny.world.
And then I have a little side job: creating engaging lessons for the social studies classroom. Feel free to peruse
Weaver’s World for some awesome content. In the rest of my free time I’m looking for the best possible deals on plane tickets to take me on my next overseas adventure. My “Two Truths and a Lie” stories are that I have (1) Hitchhiked through Israel and Chile, (2) Ruptured my Achilles dancing in a disco in a cave in Cuba, (3) Floated at the lowest point on earth (the Dead Sea) a few weeks after climbing to the highest point in Africa (Mt. Kilimanjaro). Or maybe these are all true! Don’t believe me? Check out

Regardless of how I spend my time, my life's purpose is to be a blessing. Even though I miss out on opportunities to practice my purpose, I'll try my best to live it out. But one thing I know for certain, the Lord has always provided for me and I trust that He will continue to do so on this wild journey He is taking me on.
Blessings to you!
