BTW, This spring I carried a "Life Water" disposable bottle that had a sticker on it from my 2018 Frances Camino. Throw in 4 months on the AT and a couple other months on trail and I think they last very well 😀
I did about 20 years of long distance cycling and skating when I was younger (40's-50's). Bladders were "all the rage" back then and I used them extensively. Watching the Tour de France one year, it dawned on me that if bladders were so great...
At age 60, I did SJPDP to Finisterre in 34 days. Just repeated at age 66 and spent 38 days, taking an extra day in Burgos, Leon, Santiago and Finisterre for exploring. Learned a lot more about the towns, but my body didn't like the full stop days...
This spring, my Frances was more rain days than dry days. My system worked great.
My wind/rain gear is Marmot, so it would be same either way. Yes, I'm a gram chaser....
For me, it's all about weight.
