Lightweight sleeping bag covers all the bases. Be prepared! You'd be very surprised the vast number of people carrying little or no bedding who are shocked and dismayed to learn their 6 euro donation doesn't cover sheets and blankets.
I walked it in May 2022. It's a great little camino, off the beaten track but with a surprising number of albergues (mostly municipals in converted schools).

1: Secondary water barrier. While my backpack is waterproof by itself, for the odd case of water getting inside i would prefer a "second line of defense". I'd rather not have to sleep in a wet sleeping bag or get my spare clothing wet.

You are possibly confusing the CP Coastal with the Rota Vicentina in southern Portugal. The latter has a lot of sand walking but the former does not, if I recall correctly.
