Lightweight sleeping bag covers all the bases. Be prepared! You'd be very surprised the vast number of people carrying little or no bedding who are shocked and dismayed to learn their 6 euro donation doesn't cover sheets and blankets. -

You are possibly confusing the CP Coastal with the Rota Vicentina in southern Portugal. The latter has a lot of sand walking but the former does not, if I recall correctly.

I use my poles (not a staff) for almost every kilometer on the Camino. They assist me in many ways other than the obvious uphills and downhills.

Here is an option. It will take circa 20-30minutes for a taxi to go from the Airport to Chamartin…Unless there is a traffic jam. Pay the 30 euros if time is a factor. Also you will need to put your backpack or suitcase through security...
