I just walked from Oloron to Arres, passed on the Somport, Villanua, Jaca. Not the minest Problem. And yes, there's trucks and machines around Villanua, it's a railway not a highway in work. All albergues except Canfranc are open.
I really hate to put a damper on things but please be aware that a hurricane is predicted for Wednesday that may affect walking especially in terms of high winds.
I'm in Jaca today. Tomorrow we'll take the mornig bus to Somport and start our walk to Villanua, then to Jaca. It's perfectly safe and doable, just be aware that from Villanua to Jaca could find heavy machinery working to make the new higway...
