Hi Sam, welcome to the forum. Your asking all the right questions . If I were you I'd investigate boots as you will likely be dealing with snow at higher altitudes. Gaiters might also be useful. Most albergues have heat so I wouldn't use a heavy...

I'm still using the same cheap poles I bought on my 2016 Camino. They show no signs of wearing out (though the rubber or plastic tips have had to be replaced a number of times).

To address your original question: If I felt so agrieved I would consider making contact with the individual or organisation which owns the albergue. That will take some research. It would have to be fairly outrageous behaviour for me to be...

I've walked 4+ caminos and the hospitaleros are some of the kindest and generous (and tired!) folks I've encountered. Your response to hospitaleros, and responses on this forum makes me wonder if perhaps you're not emotionally and mentally ready...

Could be. Not necessarily those who actively built but those who financed as patrons or sponsors. In case I have not yet mentioned it ;), I find context useful. The window dates from 1547. That's 300 years after the first stones for the Gothic...

I bought my train ticket from Santiago to Madrid last week using the Trainline app. Easy and they keep my tarjeta dorado number on file. Early in the ride I was surprised to receive a sandwich and small bottle of wine compliments of my ticket...

Unless you already have one that you can renew, you have to buy the Tarjeta Dorada in person at a station. It might be cheaper to buy the ticket early than to wait in line at Atocha and then buy a ticket right away for Seville with the TD...
