I've stayed twice in the albergue and twice in the Moderno. Both have issues. I managed to fuse all the building lights in the albergue once, trying to boil some pasta. Luckily quite easy to reset. The menú in the Moderno is definitely preferable...

@unadara describes conditions very similar to what I experienced in 2011, so this seems to be a longstanding condition. Since then, I’ve been through Cistierna several times and have always stayed in the Hotel Moderno. Family run, very good...
