The differences in the camino from Lisbon to Porto between 10 years ago, and now, cannot be overstated.
Between major route changes, and the arrival and disappearance of several albergues, the two share little in common.

Take a look at post 16 on this thread. It is a list of towns with indications of albergue, hotel, etc.
I was in Lisbon this fall for work and was able to walk from Lisbon to Tomar on days off.

It's now seven weeks since I returned from doing he Frances and what a wonderful 40 days it was. I'm sure there are possible pilgrims out there that worry that they may be too old to walk the camino, but I can assure you there is no age barrier...
In May 2016 I was the sole occupant of the albergue in Grijo in Portugal. It was quite large and an odd experience to have the entire building to myself.
The caretaker who lived next door provided a very good dinner for me with his family for 6 euro.
Reading the guide book I now see that the left hand side of the river is an option. It was of course a no-brainer. The left side of the river was a beautiful walk and fully marked. The other side followed the N12 for most of the way.
I walked this route in September. I followed the Brierley guide which took us to the left of the river which is the south side.
The guide book was the 2022 edition. Any change to the route must have been before 2022.
I walked it in September this year. Met about six pilgrims. At the albergue in Rodeiro there was quite a crowd but I dont think they were all pilgrims,
Hello Jack. My 89th birthday is coming up next month, and I regularly walk, ice skate and swim. I am planning to walk the CF starting from Roncesvalles next spring. Perhaps our paths will cross and we can lift a glass to life.
